Was WW winning off talent alone?

Friend of mine pointed it out to me. That he doesn’t really coach them up. LSU just plays a lot of street ball.

Look at what he did with last year’s team which had very little talent. He is a very good basketball coach

He’s a freaking good coach. They won what 7 games last year?

Combination of coaching and talent. Team has improved throughout the season.

Edit: some of you are so dumb it irks me.

Is UCLA LOSING on talent alone? Or coaching? Because they have about 3 to 4 draft picks.
How about Maryland? They have two first rounders and underachieving, even with Melo, for years.
Wade used analytics to recruit the right players and goes balls in to get them, then they blend in to create a cohesive unit.
No different than Coach K, Dean Smith, John Wooden, Bob Knight, all that became huge names.

Nah, he's a good basketball coach. He's a strong motivator, does a psychotic amount of of film study on opponents with the team and assistants, micro-manages workouts and conditioning performance, etc.
All those little things are part of his process that are awesome.
He might be average on his in-game adjustments, but his team preparation and game planning are top notch.

Nope. I haven’t. You play in college or NBA?

My money is this friend of your's is basically a "football only" guy and watches maybe 2 games a year.

No, look at the beginning of the year when we blew 15 point leads. You still have to figure out rotations and how to distribute minutes

Also, it would be very easy for a bad coach to lose with this year's young talent. See: Johnny Jones.
He's successfully gotten these kids to buy-in to the team and each other.

People didn’t think we were too talented when we were picked to finish 6th in the SEC

Your friend doesn't watch a lot of basketball. On defense they play a very complicated version of "switching" on screens. On offense, anything that is not the Princeton offense is now referred to as street ball. You want Waters running through a thousand picks or do you want him one on one creating off the dribble?

Good Lord, ANYONE who has ever coached acknowledges that better talent wins more games.

Isolation and Pick & Roll is not streetball
Fun fact: You cannot win if you don't have talent. PERIOD. You can create open shots for players but if the player is not talented he won't make it.
In these small conference tourneys, I've seen so many wide open layups missed on backdoor cuts, or wide open 3's missed. It doesn't mean the coaches necessarily suck, but you cannot win in any sport without talent. And...you gotta do something to get the talent there

Simply compare it with the previous coach/team which had a legit NBA talent in Ben Simmons.

This place is getting dumber by the day.
