What could undermine institutional control worse than “well we tried to meet with the coach but he refused so we let it go”?

You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think an NCAA investigation is coming after the FBI is done.

If this was the gross insubordination that some people are making it out to be, you don’t suspend CWW. It’s grounds for termination.

That story about a “meeting” was Alleva/Alexander covering their asses. The decision to suspend Wade had been made whether he showed up or not.

Maybe. Maybe not.

If there is one, we’ll see what it turns up. But you let the process PLAY OUT. Without damaging yourself, if possible.

And that’s where Alleva/Alexander failed. Now LSU just LOOKS guilty of something.

“ we tried to meet with the coach but he refused”

No meeting had to take place with a subpoena coach a few days before the final regular season game of the year. Waiting 10 days or so after the regular season had been completed, the SEC tournament had been completed, and national seatings had been announced would not have caused any terrible harm to LSU.

What went on Saturday night could have been totally avoided if the LSU administration had used a little common sense And not rushed in to make a problem even worse. Rushing to judgment. Seems I remember that happening before with someone in the LSU administration.

That’s the point. NCAA has not accused LSU of anything at this point. SMU received the death penalty because they got caught paying players while they were on probation for paying players.

Maybe, maybe not, but...

1) the ncaa has actually come down hard on universities that have been transparent.

2) if there is not a smoking gun, the NCAA isn’t going to anything.

3) if all they have is the tapes, there is no smoking gun.

4) if you are concerned about what MIGHT come out in trial, why not wait to see what happens.

We had nothing to gain by suspending Wade at the time and manner at which it was done. It was a knee jerk, panicking decision that was a monumental mistake for the university and program.
