What is the downside of Wade coaching out the season?

I can't seem to find one from a practical sense. Either the season is vacated or it isn't. A suspension now doesn't change that. We're not suspending Smart yet, and we aren't skipping the postseason, so it's not like we're self-imposing penalties.
This genuinely seems like the worst possible way to handle it.

I guess the optics of supporting a coach with potentially damning evidence already being disclosed.

Even then, why? You can fire him with cause if he's guilty after the season.

I'm not in agreement with the decision but it's possible Wade will be back by tourney time or next season.

Exactly. Kick this can down the road for a month, make a final 4 run, and then deal with this crap in the off season. This stuff takes months or years to unravel. Why is that so hard to understand? Why rush to judgement just to sink our season?
