Geostorm is great.
Ha! I give my mother shite about this movie because she was an extra and got a real good shot in it. It is her claim to fame

Only complaint is that her running style is a bit janky.

I still think Captain Marvel is a dumb name.

It was the perfect name for the original Captain Marvel, who was as much a comedic fantasy character as he was a straight superhero.
"Fantastic Four" was is a little odd, since it's a science based team. Stan quickly switched to putting sensational adjectives in front of the character names instead of making it a part of the actual name. "Amazing Spider-Man", etc. But Waid and Weiringo did a great job of explaining why Reed Richards went with the "Fantastic" moniker (he blamed himself for his friends' mutations, and wanted to make sure that the world looked upon them as heroic wonders instead of freaks).

shite, Captain Avenger would be a better name than Captain Marvel.

Do they typically do numbers like these for Marvel films? This doesn't tell me anything without seeing the typical gender breakdown of Marvel movie viewers.
BoxOfficeGuru does this a lot, actually - for a lot of films.

understand her comments pissed people off, but nothing about the movie itself felt political or feminist at all. It’s a generic superhero movie with a female lead.
Well, that’s just false.
The angry white, abusive father who she ran away from to live with her real family, a black woman and her child didn’t seem agenda-driven?
There may have been other subtle hints of it, blasting Arnold’s face off the True Lies stand-up in Blockbuster just off the top of my head.

Wow, you had to really want that one. Impressive

I’m not knocking the movie as a whole—it was entertaining. But to me, the politics of today have a lot to do with the choices about the story.
Since when was Captain Marvel the catalyst for the Avengers? Let alone the reason they were named as such (final scene with Fury)?

I really hope you stretched before making a reach like that.

She isn't.
Even if she was, does that really bother you?

As soon as Patty Jenkins took the Wonder Woman job after leaving Thor 2.

Much more front loaded than Wonder Woman. It will have to eek its way to $400 million domestically.

I apologize for my Geostorm jab.
If high, I will agree it is a decent flick

What ethnicity should her angry father have been?
And if you paid attention, you would know that the Kree messed with her memories. There's a pretty good chance they messed around with her memories of her father.
