Yeah but the Thor and Hulk origin movies sucked and are generally regarded as the two worst in the franchise. CM was clearly better than both for me.
The plot and writing are a bit lazy but I was entertained.

He makes a very fair point. CM isn't making a billion if it were a phase 1 film. Most of those movies had very modest BO totals. It wasn't until the 1st Avengers film that this thing exploded.

You are correct in that. Thor isn’t terrible it’s just very average. But again captain marvel has 20 movies before it of issues that get to happen that the producers directors and actors get to learn from. It’s better. But to compare the two isnt really accurate without taking into account the extra benefits captain marvel gets.

Captain marvel sees farther because she stands on the shoulders of giants.
Then what happened with Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Spider-Man: Homecoming?
She smoked all of those too.

Yep, that's nonsense.
It's amusing to watch people try explaining it away, though.

Let's be honest here, fellas. Those movies don't have the luxury of "first female-led" Marvel movie. It turned political and it helped it.

I’d put CM right in the middle. It’s on the level of Black Panther, the first Captain America movie and Ultron for me.

I understand her comments pissed people off, but nothing about the movie itself felt political or feminist at all. It’s a generic superhero movie with a female lead.

I’ve never been more shocked that I loved a movie than I was leaving GOTG. I thought the trailers looked TERRIBLE and couldn’t imagine them pulling off Rocket and Groot effectively.
Holy shite I was wrong

I'm not talking about the movie. I agree with you there. Marvel has done a good job so far of staying away from political stuff. I'm talking about media and the way our society is now.

Yes and that’s great but it also has the benefit of being the 21st movie in this universe where people are already totally on board and is also the lead in to endgame. Iron man, Thor, hulk, and captain America all had to be interesting enough on their own because they didn’t have this giant existing arc to build off of. Captain marvel sees farther because she stands on the shoulders of giants.

Ok, I think both sides act ridiculous with these movies. One side overrates the CM, BP, and WW type films. The other side says no one wants to watch political films, which is also nonsense. I'm more in the middle where I just want to shut my brain off and enjoy silly films for 2 hours.

One side just wants to point and laugh at every other side.

Btw, Captain Marvel was better than Blade Runner 2049, which this board fricking loves for some reason.

Just got out. Thought it was pretty good. Larson was great. Only complaint is that her running style is a bit janky.
