Biggest difference between the two teams this weekend

Texas out played us in every part of the game except MAYBE defensively.
Their approach at the plate was biggest difference maker. We need to change the way we pitch to teams.
On the flip side I’d like to see us become less aggressive at the plate. I hate seeing our guys hack at breaking balls in the dirt especially in a hitters count.

Texas pitchers threw the ball over the white thing the batters stand next to.

The difference was lsu was on the road and texas was at home

So, our pitchers can’t find the plate on away games? That is a weak arse justification.

Teams typically play worse on the road. Its not a weak justification. Its a different mound than the one theyve been pitching on. Theyll be better for this experience

The difference was that UT was better.....

I can honestly say this is the first time I've seen someone blame a mound for 25+ free passes in a series.

I have heard of pitchers saying they just can’t get a feel for the mound. But a whole team?

1. UT's overall pitching was superior to our's. Marceaux and Peterson hurt us the most, IMO. But I believe those two guys will win us many games this season.
2. I agree with the OP about at bats for LSU. Very few of our guys approach it like UT does. And I think we should consider it.

Being unfamiliar with a mound doesn't translate to issuing 25+ free passes. That comes more from being unprepared and being unfocused.
I don't think the LSU vets were either of those things this weekend. It's understandable with the freshman, but it's not an excuse for Hess or Peterson. They've seen more than enough action in opposing stadiums.

As I said. I don’t think it’s a good excuse for a whole pitching staff to complain about.

Ben was taking about the mound being a different height, but it doesn't excuse that many walks. They should have been able to adjust. It isn't that big of a deal.

I didn't get to watch any of the games this weekend. How many walks did LSU give up?

I think 23 total. 19 in the first 2 games.
They also hit 4 or 5 batters.

Bull, a pitcher adapts to whatever mound he has to pitch upon. Maybe for a couple of pitches but you adjust. All these kids have pitched on many many different mounds back to little league travel ball.

Texas pitchers pitched inside and outside. We primarily threw middle away. On cold days like today with it impossible to hit the ball out left of right center we should’ve been trying to pound right handed batters inside

I don't think it's an excuse for anyone. For freshman, the big atmosphere would be a valid point. The mound though? Nah.
