"Emotional support animal" mauls 5 year old girl at Portland Airport

A mother has filled a 1.1 million dollar lawsuit against the against the dogs owner and Alaskan Airlines after the animal allegedly mauled the girl at the Portland Airport on December 18th, 2017.

Shouldn't even allow "emotional support animals" on flights in the first place. Get an actual service animal or gtfo.

as a dog advocate and someone on the board of a local animal shelter, I agree with you. This shite is getting out of hand. There was a video of a black lady going irate at a restaurant owner/manager about a dog sitting next to them while she was trying to eat. She was an a-hole in how she approached it but I agree with her. There is a place for them and places that aren't.

Because for some weird fricking reason, it's illegal to make someone prove that a dog is actually certified. Not sure if it's from the ADA or what.

The thing is "emotional support animals" used to be situations like a family died in a fire but the only survivor were a kid and a dog/cat and the child couldn't be without said animal. It could happen with adults as well but it was usually children.
I remember a country singer flying out one time with two dogs.... they were told that the only way that the animals could fly if they were emotional support animals. They made a call and a few minutes later their doctor faxed over a note saying that the animals were "emotional support animals".
