This is 100% true.
First it was countrypolitan/Nashville Sound in the late 50/60 that went to set itself away from the country swing by using string instruments and a more contemporary recording of the time. Patsy Cline. Eddy Arnold, etc...
Then you had that pop/disco explosion in the 70s. Kenny Rogers, Olivia Newton John, even Dolly.
The 80s really was the lost decade. Kenny again with his stuff. Alabama was really a more pop sounding sound of the era.
Im not saying the stuff these days is good. I personally listen to Isbel, Sturgil, Texas Country more than anything, but it happens with every generation.
