Why were so many hours and resources put into this Smollett case?

Who gives a shite even if it really did happen? No one was killed or injured badly so what’s the big fckn deal?
Chicago police have a lot more important stuff to worry about than a noose and bleach.

Because it could have potentially set off race riots in what is an already area of the country prone to violence

Because of his double victim status the CPD had to lock down their evidence as close to air tight as possible before they stated the obvious. They also had to get as much done while they were still pretending that Jussie was a victim, because once he was identified as a suspect all cooperation would be over.
I am sure the CPD loved working this case.

I think PC played a huge part in it. Can’t be perceived as being uncaring to the blacks and/or gheys, especially in a case that was guaranteed to catch the national spotlight.
You’d hope that the CPD was smart enough to see through this hoax from the beginning, right?

Hopefully to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law for his race baiting false claims. I would make him pay back the money for hours spent on the investigation as well. Max sentencing for this arse hat as well. He will love his new prison boyfriend.

Bc white males are the biggest threat to America.

Once the media jumped on the story, they had to investigate so they didn't have protesters outside their door. Once they did, I'm going to assume the guy came off as nervous and unbelievable and probably contradicted himself.
Then the media went full bore on the story and the cops knew there was a different truth so they investigated it.
I would like to know how they came up with the Nigerian guys. I wonder if they were stupid enough to pay for the rope with a credit card. It's the only thing I can think of to get the names. The picture certainly wasn't good enough quality to identify them.
Jussie never gave up his phone, so I don't think they have the phone calls to the Nigerians so only thing I can think of is they used a credit card like total idiots.
In short the cops had to investigate to keep protesters away and then it must have been a blatantly obvious lie for them to go after the real story and not let it die down.

For being complicit in inciting to national violence in today's national political scene. Its a big deal. It's one of many. Let's nip it in the bud, and have him suffer consequences.

Police generally get pissed with their time being wasted with bullshite.

If you didn't have presidential candidates calling it a modern day lynching, I might have agreed with you.

Ok. Do you really believe if a average white male were allegedly beat up by two black guys the police would have put that much effort into apprehending the suspects?

Because the story the MSM wants to tell about America is a story of rabid white folks hunting black people down like animals.
It's a story that was never really true in my lifetime, although I'm certain many (most?) black people had a really fricked up time trying to make their American dreams happen just 50 or 60 years ago. I'm not trying to sugar coat lynchings, either. There were thousands upon thousands, particularly from Reconstruction through the middle portion of the "Second Klan" era, which peaked in the mid-20s. And, what's worse, it was terrorism, pure and simple.
In a way, it was an American "disease" - it was primarily whites lynching blacks, largely for aims of white supremacy, but whites also lynched whites (collaborators), blacks lynched blacks and, even a dozen or so incidents (IIRC) of blacks lynching whites.
At it's peak from about 1880 through about 1930, an average of 175 people were "lynched" (the term is used now to mean killed purely or predominantly because of the race of the victim) per year. Based on confirmed incidents, not anecdotes or whatnot, we have 3 lynchings during the approximately half a century I've been alive.
1. Marian Pyszko (a white Jewish Polish dude) was lynched in 1975 by some Detroit youths looking for a white victim after a white man killed a black teenager after observing a group of young black men tampering with his car. There were no convictions in the case. These incidents were associate with the Livernois-Fenkell riot.
2. Michael Donald was beaten, killed and hung from a tree in Mobile, Alabama in 1981. White (Third) Klan members, apparently in retaliation for the acquittal of a black man accused in the murder of a white police office, selected Mr. Donald for retribution. Two men were convicted. Henry Hays was sentenced to death (in a rare move, the judge overruled the jury's recommendation of life) and electrocuted for the crime. James Knowles was sentenced to life.
3. James Byrd was dragged to death (after being beaten, urinated on, defecated on, etc.) white white supremacists (the group was not affiliated, specifically, with any group at the time, but Brewer and King were likely both Aryan Nation/CKA type dudes in prison and probably met through such groups behind bars) in 1998 in Jasper, Texas. 3 perpetrators convicted. 1 executed, 1 is on death row and 1 has a life sentence. Brewer was executed back in 2011 and his extravagant last meal, which he completely discarded, resulted in the end of the practice in Texas. King is scheduled to be executed next month. TWENTY ONE YEARS LATER. (This case was made an issue in the 2000 Presidential Election because of W's opposition to hate crime legislation.)
A fourth individual, Brandon McClelland was dragged to death in what police in Paris, Texas, initially believed was a hit-and-run gone horribly wrong. Two white men with long criminal histories were charged, but those charges were ultimately dropped. The family believes it was racially motivated and that the investigation was botched.
The McClelland case is bizarre, because the victim had known the accused white men since they were all children and had worked together the day of his murder. Hearsay statements reported by one of the accused's wives make me believe it might have been a drunken accident and the rest was a drunken effort to cover that up, rather than a specifically racially motivated slaying.
Certainly there are other instances of white killers and black victims, but we must also concede that is about the smallest category of homicide we can come up with. Not defending it, but this pretense that it is a "special" kind of crime does not come from its prevalence over the past 50 years - that's absolutely for certain. Statistically zero. There have been more people murdered over college football in the State of Alabama over that same period, just for context.

The national media and wild interest in the Dem party which dominated the convo for about 3 days until it became painfully obvious (painful for the left) that the whole thing was a ho-AXE. And Smolllett was the hoe. By then the investigation was running wide arse open and the po po had to bring it to a public conclusion. When I heard the setting, time and the wild arse things he claimed along with the rope around his neck and still attached when John Law got there my first reaction was that sounds way too melodramatic. Like something a woman would come up with trying to get attention. Then to confirm comes word he is gay. So there you go. Ho-AXE in the first degree. And the police knew immediately but they can't let on and they have to cover their asses by saying and doing the poly correct things. And sure there was about a 5-10% chance something happened that was within 20 miles of what he claimed and he is just taking advantage of the oppty. But it was always 10-1 BS! 2 white guys afoot in 20 below in the ghetto beating up a po black fellow. Trust me if 2 white guys were around it is because they took a wrong turn and they first thought was oh shite let's get the freak outta here.
