LoL, wut? Its simply amazing watching tards like you flail away at what they DONT know about the Bible. Don't make assertions about something you've obviously never read.
quote:
Matt. 19:4
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
Matt. 19:5
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Matt. 19:6
Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Yeah, that's Jesus, and hes specifically defining the rule of marriage. Word for word.
And of course theres this little tidbit (stated twice, btw), in case he might have missed out on teaching his disciples something important. Like homosexuality, and all
quote:
Mat 16:19
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
And what the hell is this?
quote:
2nd Solomon

3 For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires. 4 So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. - II Timothy 4:3-4
I disagree with most of what this man said and believe that he has compromised the Word in order to better accommodate his feelings. I am sad for him.

So the voters gave the traditional plan top priority yesterday and just voted to approve it as amended by 461 to 359. This means its in the lead right? Anyone who understands this better that I, can you explain what this means? The progressive folks on twitter seem to be upset by this. Good news for the traditional plan right?

That generally means it's a good thing.

I am following UM news service and thats what they are tweeting. Searching UMC on twitter brings up articles about the vote and then folks(that seem to be favoring OCP) tweeting about how horrible todays events have been. I dont think its a done deal or anything but it seems like the TP is "in the lead." I honestly dont know enough about the process to know if its overreaction or otherwise.

Jesus preached in the union of a man and a woman.
Homosexuality is mentioned in both the new and old testament multiple times.
No Christian that I know is against non believing gays having legal rights. Maybe not the term marriage though.
No Christian that follows biblical teaching thinks the homosexual act isn't a sin.
The rift in Christianity is between those that follow the bible and those that want to make the bible follow them.
The gay issue is the biggest issue in Christianity. 20 years ago it was hardly a thing.

It’s so sad that this is even a controversy. Homosexuality has been recognized as a sin from the start, like other sexual sins, and there shouldn’t even be a question about allowing it.
I saw a sign from the session that says love trumps hate. Clearly these people don’t love God’s law or else they wouldn’t even be in support of this.

I was told any plan has to have 2/3 vote to become adopted. I haven't seen it written anywhere though. Based on the fact that 43% of the delegates are from outside of the U.S. and mostly from Africa (whom have said they will vote for nothing other than the traditional plan), it's hard to see where any will get 2/3 vote.

Love the Lord you God with all your heart soul and mind.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
It goes in that order for a reason.
That said. This is a really really tough issue.
I wonder about this scenario often.
If a gay person truly does their research and believes in their heart that God does not find their actions sinful and this person loves and wants to be with Jesus and repents for sin and even sin they don't think they are doing...then in some way is that any different than a Catholic unrepentantly praying to Mary if Catholicism is false teaching? Or any unknowing unrepentant sin? Unrepentant pride?
The gay issue is in your face as a Christian. You can likely easily go about your days having differing views about Creation and Evolution or Catholics and Protestants Or infant and adult baptism etc....and it really doesn't matter a whole lot. But if someone is gay in your family it's a major issue to deal with. And to be faithful to scripture and loving to your relative is a narrow road to take.

Most Christians today are ashamed of God’s law and most churches avoid large parts of the Bible so as to not offend wicked worldly people. They are terrified of atheists saying, “well, what about THIS verse” and grimace when they get to Leviticus chapter 20 or Romans 1:21.
When their soul inevitably returns to its owner and maker, Jesus will be ashamed to claim them before the Father and the holy angels (Luke 9:26).

It actually is very easy. Just go to another church.
They are worried about the money most of all.

Old article on UMC issue but good
