A lot of places have shite internet and while you'll still have tens of gigs of patches to download, the discs can help those people install much of the base game.

The reviews on Steam are 77% positive, but even many of the top rated reviews still bring up how shitty it was to pull the game from the Steam store last minute.

From what I understand, the Metro series doesn't sell well on consoles, PC sales were their bread and butter. We will see if there are layoffs in the coming year because of stupid executive decisions.

I haven't been in the video game section recently. I always get physical copies of PS4 games, but the little I play on PC has been digital ever since the Half Life 2 era.
Parmen's comments about slow internet makes sense. And I see from this thread that they've gotten away from the obnoxiously oversized boxes with a CD in them. That was part of the fun of buying PC games in lieu of the N64/PS1 games, but time marches on.
