ver a four-year period, for example, UCLA had $5.6 million “carved out” of a larger sponsorship deal with IMG as compensation for the loss of its TV rights, according to a school official.
Back that figure out of the $9.7 million distributed to each campus by the Pac-12 Networks, and the Bruins have received $4.1 million in net revenue. That’s an average of $683,333 per year over six years of the networks.
Cal reported a bigger hit over a longer buy-back process, reimbursing IMG to the tune of $7.1 million over five years.
Remove that from the Pac-12 Networks’ payout, and the Bears have received an average of $433,333 in net annual revenue — or 1/20th of the amount in the high range of the scenario presented to athletic directors.
But at least Cal and UCLA are finished with the buybacks.
Oregon State must compensate Learfield $1 million annually through 2022 for the repurchase of its local TV rights.
Carve $6 million out of OSU’s total payout thus far from the Pac-12 Networks, and the Beavers are left with an average of $616,000 per year in net distributions.
To put that figure in context with the cost of doing business in major college athletics consider this:
OSU defensive coordinator Tim Tibesar was paid $550,000 last season.
“When you’re trying to measure the true cost associated with the decision to do (the Pac-12 Networks),’’ a conference source said, “the buy-backs are not insignificant.”

The Pac-12 is a kleptocracy. Larry Scott has just used it to enrich himself and his buddies. Whole conference is a shitshow and will be a mid-major shortly based on leadership and demographic change in California.
I'm excited for the El Fútbol Networks rebrand.

Nope. Football was vacated because of cheaters. B-ball was UConn.

So they’ve left att, and they aren’t on directv. Who exactly DOES carry the P12N?
In DFW Spectrum has them on either the old sports package if you were grandfathered in from Time Warner or their gold package.
I actually like their coverage for the most part FWIW. They have a lot retrospective shows and their replays edit out dead space letting you see the full game instead of arbitrary chunks of game like ESPN tends to do.

Obviously they won baseball last year, but they’ve also only been averaging 4 teams in the CWS per yr over the last 3 seasons, the last out of all P5 conferences I believe.

Don't worry, little buddy, the Longhorns will save the day here in a few years.

Well obviously it wasn't that obvious since most had no clue

No. That was part of my nope. He said football or basketball since 2004. I was clarifying who won b-ball that year. When the BCS existed, the AP didn’t mean shite. All coaches agreed on the BCS determining the football national championship.

Because I don't follow college baseball.

Knew that due to MLB draft situations (as he wasn't picked)
Couldn't tell ya how the CWS went.

Conference of Champions...
Not to mention all 67 NC's Stanford wins annually in obscure sports by defeating some club level community college teams.

Guy who doesn't follow sport has no idea who was champion of said sport? :youdontsay:
You know there are millions of people who couldn't tell you who won let alone who was even in the Super Bowl too...

you're right
but there are more who could tell you who was in that than the CWS final.
Not sure what's all so surprising about someone not following college baseball.

Because it actually is a brilliant idea if it had demand...
PAC 12 wouldn't have to share any of the profit.
SEC has to share money with ESPN
B1G with FOX.
Problem is that the media companies do not like it and have targeted it since Day 1.
Stanford was way too arrogrant about expansion as well as the network.
Larry Scott won't go anywhere unless Stanford says so.
They have complete control of the PAC 12. None of those schools are leaving.
