Lol what isn’t. Their job was to gauge if there was demand and they did so poorly.

But Stanford isn't hurting
Stanford has leverage because of their academic standing.
The other half of college sports are the universities itself.
No school will abandon their relationship with Stanford for football money.

But Stanford makes more money from their endowment than any P5 school.
10-20% of this money goes into college athletics.

So Stanford can wait around and attempt to find a market for their network.
No matter the negative campaign being ran by FOX and ESPN.
If there wasn't demand FOX, ESPN and the other media companies wouldn't care.

Problem is that the PAC 12 doesn't have major media behind them.
But with that help you are getting screwed because you have to share the profits.

Forcing carriers to take on 6 regional networks along with the national P12N was NEVER a good idea. They will NEVER have the content needed to make the regional nets viable.

Regional sports nets that carry pro teams have enough trouble staying viable as it is. The SECN and BTN struggle to provide enough content and they both have 14 schools to work with. Regional sports nets that carry nothing but two college teams are completely useless b/c they rarely ever have live content that differs from the national network.

They aren't getting football and basketball games you can't see anywhere else. The barely even get the smaller Olympic sports as live content. Almost everything on the regional nets is either a simulcast from the national P12N or a replay/rerun of something that already aired on P12N.

Trying to force 7 networks on tv providers is the #1 reason P12N isn't on DTV or AT&T.

The people at Stanford are a lot smarter than any of us regarding how to run a business.
Like I said...Stanford is not hurting and they know that the schools who are will never leave.

Research money dwarfs college football money and the university presidents are the ones who decide conference allegiance not ADs.

PAC 12 network is awesome. During football season I can get back from the bars and live football is still on. It’s usually Cal vs Arizona State 42-35 type game, but it’s still college football

There was some decent programming, but I only subscribed for the one or two USC football games it aired live each season. An added bonus was basketball and baseball.

Since U-verse dropped it, I no longer get any of it.

If it were only one network, it wouldn't be a disaster.

However, their insistence and refusal to deviate from the "one network per member state" requirement is the biggest contributing factor to its problems. That's the reason DirecTV still won't carry it/them.

That statement isn't completely true. The 2017 game between #10 USC and #16 Texas A&M in basketball was exclusively on the PAC 12 Network.

I wasn't saying P12N doesn't get exclusive live programing. I was saying their REGIONAL networks don't get exclusive live programing for football and basketball. Now there may occasionally be a basketball game like an Oregon St vs Incarnate Word or something pretty much nobody cares about in December but that's about all you are going to get.

There is one thing they do I REALLY like though:

They compress certain games into a 60-minute rebroadcast.

It's easily the best thing they do. It drives me insane that ESPN refuses to do the same for their replays. It wouldn't even take that long for a person to do. Just grab some interns and go.

USC, UCLA, UT, and OU could be a pretty big grouping if they could figure out the rest of the geographical needs

there probably isn't a demand for 2 BCS conferences west of the midwest/southeast. the plains, SW, and Pacific-coastal have enough demand to make something work i reckon

It's almost as if they use the same production groups and graphics (Fox). Hmmm

Not to mention all 67 NC's Stanford wins annually in obscure sports by defeating some club level community college teams.

This makes no sense.

If they are beating community college teams in the Pac-12 and nationwide then why isn't everybody?

Pac-12 actually wins their championships in Nationwide tournaments.

Not voters opinion or regional bias.

It’s crazy to me just how much the PAC 12 has fallen off the map in all of the 3 main sports.

They were literally just in the CWS Final 4 of the last 6 years.

Winning 3 of those Titles.

Lol at the PAC 12 trying to run a media company instead of selling their rights and letting ESPN or Fox do what they are best at. This is what happens.

Cards fall when the AZ schools and Utah join the Big 12.
