LSU adopted the plus-minus system a few years back. For instance an A+ is worth 4.2 points and an A- is worth 3.8.

That's fricking dumb

I'm was proud to hear Mays' GPA because it's nice to see that some of these athletes have brains and have a future ahead of them if athletics don't work out!

He'll basically have his choice of any med school assuming he gets a halfway decent mcat

He’s smart. His dad is a doctor and his mom is a PA.

You got a lot of downvotes, but I’m with you. When I was in college the highest GPA you could get was a 4.0. That was back in the late 90’s though. Anything above a 4.0 sounds strange to me.

4.0 = A
3.0 = B
2.0 = C
Etc.

My question is how does he make a 4.0 at all with basketball, lifting, and the fact that its pre-med.
As others have answered, it's because he's smart, dedicated, and the grading system.

I may be mistaken, but I believe there was news of him recently his changing major to Kinesiology. Kinesiology is a popular major for athletes. In Skylar's case, I speculate he's done enough so far course-wise to be accepted to his choice of med school depending on his mcat.

That made me laugh for some reason.

wonder how the +/- scale would have affected my GPA.

Mine probably would have improved. I was like an Ectocooler in college.
