How much further is the run from Biloxi than from Venice? Based on looking at a map, seems like it would be quite a bit further.
All depends on where you are heading, I have been fishing VK a lot lately and it is really not a big difference, other places are.
A big difference is I run from Biloxi WOT and do not have to deal with passes or the river.
It just is a more enjoyable trip IMHO not to even get into the PITA of driving to Venice on that fine LA highway.

Its like an additional 100 miles from Biloxi
It is 82 miles from Biloxi to Venice however there is no reason to make that trip.
The further East of Venice you go the mileage distance shrinks until it just aint worth it IMHO.
inshore/nearshore Venice hands down of the choices in the OP

As opposed to running WOT downriver for the first 25 miles from Venice?

Passes aren't too bad if you know where you're going/have a track/keep up with whats silted in.

Can't argue that one.
I just think leaving from Venice gives you way more options. You have offshore access spanning from any rig on the east side all the way to Green Canyon/Walker Ridge on the west side.

CP3 if you would care to share how you keep up with passes that are silted in im all ears. That shite changes so much and it doesn’t ever seem easy to have a good reliable source for safe passages updates weekly.

Just ask around at the dock or follow a charter out. There are plenty of people that run the river every day down there that could easily help you out.
If for some reason you don't want to do that just post on THT before heading down.
Southwest will obviously always be navigable depth wise, just have to deal with the traffic and wakes.
Red pass and Northeast seem to have been pretty consistent for the past few years as well. South pass is pretty sketchy.

The Blue Marlin Grand Championship in Orange Beach every July.
Yeah, but you can bet 90+% of those boats head west. We fish those tournaments, Venice, Biloxi, Orange Beach, and Destin, and everyone is heading back to LA.

That is 100% true, the options are good enough either way and If I wanted to fish the west side I would trailer.
No fog, no river and traffic, no passes, very little fish and game presence, no need for all passengers to have LA lisc, and a far shorter drive just tip the scales for me in my situation, yours may be different.

Srsly?
GTFO
There are at least a dozen tournaments elsewhere that you have a much better chance of catching more marlin and larger marlin than anywhere in the GoM.

All the boats who fish the Blue Marlin Grand Championship, Emerald Coast Billfish Classic, MGCBC, etc. either run to Independence Hub or Green Canyon. The run to these places is wayyyyyyy shorter from Venice than it is from any other place on the gulf coast.
