You are way too cynical. There may be a few mercenaries in congress, but I think 95% of voting patterns remain the same if all lobbying money disappeared tomorrow
It's a bogeyman.
We had 60+ Senators just vote for a resolution condemning the President's decision to withdraw troops from Syria. You think they came into politics supporting our boys dying in some shithole? No, they vote for these resolutions because, if they don't, the party establishment will primary them for deviating from one of the basest of orthodoxies: unyielding support for Israel regardless of its impact on our own country.

My views are expressed by Ben Shapiro in this op-ed

Which brings us to the second question: is the NRA actually even “buying” anyone? The answer here is obviously no. The NRA isn’t paying politicians off to change their positions anymore than Planned Parenthood is doing so. There’s a reason the NRA supports pro-gun candidates and Planned Parenthood supports pro-abortion candidates. They pick the candidates who support their agenda and support them. They don’t go around offering cash in briefcases in order to convince those who disagree to go along with their agenda.
The NRA, in reality, is a powerful lobbying organization because a huge number of Americans agree with their agenda. Most gun-owners, even if they aren’t members, see the NRA as a vital organization in defending their Second Amendment rights. Congress isn’t beholden to the NRA — it’s beholden to its own constituents, many of whom support the NRA’s belief system as a general matter.

The reason moderate Rs oppose gun control is because it severely harms their reelection chances.
Because the gun rights lobby would shut off the money pipeline.

Planned parenthood, labor unions, nra, etc....are powerful because a huge number of Americans support them.
They are important linkage institutions that keep congressfolk in line with constituent need and wants.

The NRA must be incredibly effective with the placement of their campaign contributions given how dwarfed they are by various leftists groups.
But by God if you listened to a fricking leftist you would think the NRA was the only special interest group out there.
That fricking Steyer kook or that Bloomberg a-hole drop more money into campaigns than the NRA does all by themselves

Ben Shapiro is a joke.

I agree with her on this one.
AIPAC buys politician.

Tens of millions of American voters who get whipped into a frenzy to defeat anti-2A measures and candidates by...the NRA.

PP + emily's list= 67 million dollars in 2016 election spending
labor unions= 1.7 BILLION in 2016 election spending
nextgen climate action= 25 million in 2016 election spending
NRA= 50 million
According to juice and pettifogger, our congress should be crawling with people who are hardcore labor union supporters.

Please research historical anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. The most common is the idea that they control everything through bribes.
Exactly, its a racial stereotype which means (flips through progressive handbook)… Ah, here it is, literally Hitler.
Time to dox JuiceTerry and get him fired.

If you do not believe Jewish blood is hallowed and magical, you need to get the frick out of congress.

Things HHTM believes:
1) All politicians go into office with firmly held beliefs they've had since their teenage years
2) Politicians never act or vote in a certain way because they know they'll be rewarded for it
3) Lobbyists don't influence, they merely find allies and support them
Just so we're clear

Why should a rural South Carolina baw give a frick who controls a piece of land in the desert half a world away? They care because they're told to care by those in charge, and are then force fed propaganda from dispensationalist evangelical groups who get money from the Israeli interest groups or by Jewish neocons who work for major television networks, internet blogs or newspapers.

So what is this "all about the Benjamins" bullshite?
Is the Muzzie trying to be street or something?
Do Iranians or Iraqis say "It's all about the rials or dinars?"

You can build as many strawmen as you want, muddy the waters and try to change the subject

Any Somalian who has been granted the right to live in the USA should be incredibly grateful. Every hate-spewing Leftist conveniently does so with a full stomach, warm and safe inside a civilization built by the white Western patriarchy.
I'd rather she was starving in Somalia.

Moderate GOP Congressman: "hey now this gun control legislation seems sensible and something most of us can get behind"
NRA: "allow us to tell you why you're fricking wrong"
Just mentioning another scenario that apparently never happens
