No. He didn't. He didn't even become a writer on the force awakens until 4 months before production because Arndt couldn't put a story together.

So when did he write a draft for it? Johnson was attached to the project in the summer of 14 when they were shooting, and also still re writing, the force awakens.

Said who was wrong? And what do you mean by "he was wrong"?

In the same quote where Hamil says at first he fundamentally disagreed with what Rian did, he then says he (Hamil) was wrong.

Hamill was sort of trying not to openly bash the movie imo.

It really doesn't matter though because Luke was portrayed terribly in TLJ. I didnt need Hamill to confirm that.

Luke in the OT.

Rises from ignorant space farm boy to a trained jedi.

He then proceeds to meet face to face with the most powerful and evil figure in the galaxy and refuses to fight because he says he senses some good in this individual. Ends up turning him.

Now to TLJ:

Luke senses some dark in a young Ben Solo and decides he needs to kill him where he sleeps? Absolutely antithetical to literally everything we learned about Luke in the OT.

Most people knew what Hamill was saying. He knows the character better than most.

Possibly. But the quote is always taken out of context and doesn't provide what he says right after.

Not really out of context. Hamill is trying to tell us what he really thinks but trying to sort of shroud his comment so as to not draw too much attention to it.

Except he didn't, realizes the mistake he made, and goes on about the shame he felt. Part of the reason he went into exile.

Luke even being in that position is a garbage character decision to begin with. There's no redeeming quality about that plot choice.

It is out of context lol. It doesn't include the whole quote

If I told you "I fundamentally disagree with the way you make pizza, but I'm going to try it anyway. And man was I wrong"

Now does that mean I hated your pizza? Hamill could very well have hated the last jedi, but that quote is taken out of context.

I understand that point of view.

I generally agree, although I could be entertained by it.

TFA was almost as bad as TLJ. I didn't think there was much of a noticable difference in entertainment between the two.

Definitely a few more eye rolls at TLJ, but TFA wasn't what some think it was.

It's also been what, 30 years since then?

Why does that matter?

People change. 30 years is a long time.

I don't particularly like it, but it's not like it's impossible.

And we're supposed to think of our own reasons why that might have happened? Sounds like a cop out for a shitty narrative decision. Because it is a SHITTY narrative decision.

They gave you the reason.

Now you can disagree with it. Not like it.

He explains to Rey why he has the views he does.

No one asked you to do that. Even if they did, I don't think asking the audience to have an imagination is a bad thing. It also isn't new.

Only because Ben woke up at the last second, while cuddle snuggling with his lightsaber, and deflected the blow. Luke didn't have some revelation.

realizes the mistake he made

It's never explained what the frick happened after that altercation. Did Ben knock him out and kill eveyone at the school? Did he turn them? Was he the only student? So much of that fricking movie sucked so bad it hurts my head to try and break it down.

It says exactly what happened after their altercation

He took a handful of students and murdered the rest.

And no, Ben waking up wasn't the reason he didn't go through with it.

We are given the story three times. You're just remembering Kylo's verson.

I saw darkness. I sensed it building in him. I'd seen it in moments during his training. But then I looked inside, and it was beyond what I ever imagined. Snoke had already turned his heart. He would bring destruction, pain, death, and the end of everything I love because of what he will become. And for the briefest moment of pure instinct, I thought I could stop it. It passed like a fleeting shadow. And I was left with shame and with consequence. And the last thing I saw were the eyes of a frightened boy whose Master had failed him.

Rey was a great character in the force awakens, but was completely flat and boring in the last Jedi. Hopefully JJ saves the trilogy.
