Only he didn’t word it like the way you said, he worded it like this "I'm sorry, I don't know how to speak Spanish. I'm an American." those are 2 different things. Nothing wrong with what he said or how he worded it.

I don’t sense any great insult in the Spanish comment. He just seems visibly irritated with the overall noise and that was just part of it.

What does the ability to speak Spanish have to do with being an American? Dumb comment.

That’s because 1 in 10 Americans aren’t actually American at all

He’s saying that’s he’s an American and therefore he doesn’t know how to speak Spanish. If someone had said “sing a song in Italian” he probably would have said “I’m sorry I don’t know how to speak Italian, I’m an american”

So, 1.295 in 10 Americans speak Spanish? Who the frick comes up with 1 in 10 as any form of valid argument...
When 40 million people do something, only an idiot would act like being "American" would by definition mean they didn't speak Spanish.

And more than 20% speak a non-English language in general.

It was a dumb answer to a dumb request. Aaron Lewis handled the rest of the situation just as he should

Isn't staind a "rock" band?

Staid was more of a "rock" group but since he left them he's trended more towards "southern" rock/country.

He's had a #1 country hit so that's what I'd call him.

So, you going to a concert and going to ask Celine to sing you a song in Ukranian? putz...

I'm a big fan of Staind and Aaron Lewis. He is immensely talented. I'm not offended by the "I speak English" line. However, people paid to hear him, and I don't agree with walking off stage because they won't be completely silent. What he should have done is just play through it and let the audience take care of the noise makers. Not his problem. He gets paid to play and sing, and he owes those who paid to see him to do that regardless of background noise. Just my 2 cents....

How do we know it was a dumb request? Maybe the person in the crowd who shouted that out meant "if you sing something in Spanish, they'll understand and quiet down"?

In any event, snowflakes, gonna snowflake.

He could have said...sorry, I don't know any. It has literally nothing to do with being an American, though.

You're still insinuating he stopped the concert because someone asked him to sing in Spanish. He didn't.

I am quite certain he is concerned with your thoughts on the matter... I am certain 1 in 10 Americans actually give a shite what he said...

No I'm not. I'm just saying mentioning he's American is a non-sequitur at best.

Let's be honest - anyone his age probably knows lots of songs in foreign tongues. But that has nothing to do with them being American or not.

Off the top of my head:

Hava Nagila
La Cucaracha (would have been funny IMO if he had actually broken this out)
O Sole Mio
Frere Jacques

This is the dumbest thing in this thread. Dumber than Lewis or the crowds actions.

Aaron Lewis should have sang Feliz Navidad over and over? Like the Blues Bros playing Rawhide behind chicken wire?

If they don’t understand English, why would they spend money on a concert of an English speaking band?
