Dian Xin is Taking an Unplanned Break in Its First Week Due to Dim Sum Frenzy

quote:

The French Quarter’s brand new dim sum restaurant is taking an unexpected midweek break after the overwhelming response it’s received from customers in its opening week. A sign on the door of Dian Xin (1218 Decatur Street) on Wednesday said that due to the “unforeseen” reception, it would be closed Tuesday through Thursday, January 31 to “readjust our inventory to meet the demands of our local communities.”

quote:

Dian Xin has been slammed since Judy Ceng and her family opened its doors last Wednesday, January 23. Originally open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., following the weekend the owner’s first move was to reduce hours by opening at 3 p.m. After service Monday night, a post on Dian Xin’s Facebook page announced the two-day closure due to inventory needs

First time I ever experienced Dim Sum was this past year in Austin. That was the most amazing thing I had ever experienced. I'll give this place a few weeks before venturing over there. Give me all of the soup dumplings.

I wanted to go but figured it would be mobbed. Hope they can figure it out and get back open soon.

Newspaper mentions definitely help businesses, which is why I never understand the Times Pic wasting ink on mediocre restaurants that close. No news there. Why not cover the businesses that are open instead of writing over and over about failure? Newspapers don’t cover any other small businesses that fail—why just restaurants?

I dont get the Dim Sum craze. I went to all the best places in Portland and they are good.......but that's about it. I think its more of a " Im a person of many cultures, brag " thing.
