What a clutch shot by Darrell Mitchell, Tiger legend.
Here's to another run like that one

I can’t believe it’s been this long since LSU made a significant tournament run. Thank god for Will Wade.

The 2009 team got screwed by the committee with the UNC matchup in the 2nd round. That team could have been a sweet 16/elite 8 team with a reasonable draw

Easily. Still pissed about that too.

I've said this for years. We played with UNC in the second round as competitively as any other team in that tournament did. Also, remember, we beat Butler in the first round, and they followed that up with a 10-2 run the next two years in the tournament, falling in back-to-back title games.

Yeah i believe LSU was the closest game UNC had that tournament if i remember correctly

They were, still remember that dagger 3 Tyler Hansborough hit as the shot clock expired that kind of felt like the end.

For me, this is one of those moments where I can recall exactly where I was when he hit that shot.

We beat the little brother Aggies and then later beat their big brother Longhorns to go to the final four.

I was going to LSU at that time. I remember us shutting down jj reddick and duke in the next round. We beat Texas in the elite 8 which had Kevin Durant if I'm not mistaken. It all came to an end in the final 4 against ucla. I remember Jordan farmar murdered us that game. Good times.

I never noticed Thomas push Law on the inbounds. Obviously, that's where A&M was trying to go with the ball initially.

Durant was at Texas the following year.
The Texas team LSU beat was headlined by LaMarcus Aldridge, Daniel Gibson, and PJ Tucker.

That team played great defense! The offense was a completely different story.

For sure. As others have mentioned, LSU gave UNC their best game of the tournament on their way to the National Championship.
And let us not forget that Johnny Jones led team in 2015, when LSU was up 14 at the half against NC State only to lose by 1. NC State went on to beat 1-seed Villanova in the next round. LSU might have been able to do the same. Unfortunately, that's our most recent memory from the Big Dance.
