We should keep it that way

That’s an old article...their only aircraft carrier got damaged a few months ago. The dry dock it was at for repairs sunk and ripped a hole in it. Not sure if they ever decided if it was worth salvaging.

There is no way we have 120,000,000 men fit for service. We have a soy problem on our hands.

I'd argue we'd be hard press to find 2 million of "draft age" that are fit for service. Obesity is a real threat to our nation.

Boogie, military funding depends on how we anticipate using the military. For over half a century the U.S. has used its military nearly continuously as an IOP to shape the international system. Since the USSR collapsed, we were a global hegemon that could freely move unopposed.
This is still the basic requirement of the NSS, but we now have at least one adversary that can maintain standoff and can challenge us in their region. It isn’t going to get cheaper to regain our previous advantage.

Otto...the 260 school meals per year aren't making kids obese...
It's a combination of sugar intake, and lack of activity

bullshite, and I rebuke your view on the American male. Every generation says some kind of shite like this about the newer generation and their willingness or fitness to fight should the nation call on them. And every time the nation calls on the youth of this country to fight, it goes to the battlefield and lays waste to our enemies.
There is nothing in this world that can stand up to the American fighting man.

The constant stream of Pentagon officials retiring only to be immediately hired by the same defense contractors those officials patronized continues well into Trump’s presidency. This is the Swamp. In the meantime, after a Trump planned two percent budget cut (originally was supposed to be five percent) in military spending, congressional Republicans and Jim Mattis (the Swamp) convinced Trump to increase military spending by five percent. So yes, much of this can be directly laid at the feet of the Republican Party. The OP says ‘Merica is already the biggest badass on the block and it’s not even close. In the meantime the Swamp says we’ll face utter catastrophe if we don’t throw more billions into the defense budget. Where’s the truth? Those of us on the right need to continue to pressure the Swamp regardless of which side of the aisle we notice it bubbling up.

If you are going to quote me hoss....get it right...I don't spell America...'merica' like your red neck arse... You can't spell America but I bet you can Mississippi

Our record as #1 is abysmal. We should go back to being the underdog.

Iran has a pretty stout military. Israel would have been long obliterated if not for the backing of the US
