So I guess I'll wait another couple of years before considering getting a switch.

quote:

"The current development status is very challenged, and we had to make a difficult decision as a development team. We have decided to re-examine the development structure itself and change it.

We did not make this decision lightly. This change will essentially mean restarting development from the beginning, so the completion of the game will be delayed from our initial internal plan.

We strongly recognise that this delay will come as a disappointment to the many fans who have been looking forward to the launch of Metroid Prime 4.

I'd like to extend my deepest, heart-felt apologies to everyone that the launch will be delayed. It will be a long road until the next time we will be able to update you on the development progress, and development time will be extensive.

However, we will continue developing the game so that when it is completed, it will stand shoulder to shoulder with past Metroid Prime titles."

Yeah, I'm very disappointed we'll likely have to wait until late 2020 (at the earliest) to play it and I'm wondering why Nintendo didn't just get Retro Studios on it to begin with, especially after the disaster that was Other M.

However, I like that Nintendo pulled the plug when they realized the game wasn't coming together and I'm happy Retro is making it. I do wonder what developer was making it, though. Was it all in house or did they partner with another outside developer?

Had no idea it wasn't Retro tagged with making it up till now. Seems bizarre to try to hand it over to somebody else when Retro has done such a great job with it in the past.

I'm glad they scrapped the shite.

That stinks.

But this is usually why Nintendo's top IP's are such good games, quality and experience trump everything else. In the end, we'll get a good game, it's just going to take longer.

The Switch is doing fine anyway, so I don't think this slows it down either.

This is GOOD!

Keep a higher standard. With all the shite games companies are just putting out there...im pleased when i see things like this. Same with FF7 remake.

I would always prefer delays over rushed projects with name value forced out that leave a bad taste in my mouth.

games get delayed all the time...as long as the delay is not open ended(development hell) + the game is a quality addition to the console/franchises library I dont care about timing so much as long as there are other gaming options in the mean time which the switch has.

Nintendo has more than enough consumer confidence from me to trust them when it comes to their top and beloved franchises minus whatever they did to Star Fox...IDK what the hell happened there

Same. Can't wait because it will be a great price! Also, good job switching your avatar back.
