9 is straight terrible outside of the last 150-200 pages or so though (the ending is stellar of course). If it wasn't for the ending it's almost as bad as 10
ya but you are talking about like 25% of the book that stands up there with Rhuidean and Dumais Wells for me. That does a whole lot of damage control to lift 9 out of the terrible category.

Welp.
One of the Wot series blogs is reporting that production on the final two episodes and reshoots is halted until APRIL 2021...which would be a full year from when the production was supposed to stop filming the first time, due to Covid.
No confirmation from the actual series or parties. If true...that could be virtually fatal to the future of the series. Season 2 wouldn't even begin filming until more than 2 years after when it was supposed to unless they just go right into Season 2 production...
Not good at all.

If true, why would it be fatal to the series?

Those kind of massive delays to a hugely expensive production just could cause Amazon to rethink. Or maybe not.
But its certainly not ideal.

They have definitely shut down production.
A few connected people are saying that they worked overtime the last few weeks and are essentially done. The April restart will simply be for pickup shoots, which is different from reshoots. Its basically supplementing scenery, and so on. It should not affect a release date in any appreciable way.
There's no confirmation of any of this just informed speculation based on some people with information.

Ya but its not anything specific to this production that would indicate in house problems.
Seems like it would be pretty dumb to waste all the money already spent due to a worldwide pandemic in year 1 of what they are hoping will be an almost decade long production.

Thanks fellas, I’m driven down to Nola this weekend plan to knock some outa 5 with the books on tape which I find on par with some the better ones I’ve ever listened to. May just try to push through 6 and then read New Spring before starting on 7

Amazon shits out the production cost of their shows in a week. Maybe less.
Okay, I don't know, but I doubt Amazon is worried about money.

Narg over at the Daily Trolloc Reddit page did a speculative episode by episode breakdown just based on the small amount of leaks and pictures that have come out.
I have to say if some of it is correct I am not a fan of the changes, and I think doing only EotW in season 1 is sort of a mistake, I think they could have incorporated elements of Great Hunt as well personally.
SPOILERS
One change they MAY have made is that they go to Tar Valon and then to Shienar, and maybe don't go to Caemlyn for any extended length of time. I don't love that.

It seems like they are working in New Spring stuff as well as expanded plotlines. Plus there is no way to tell if they end at EoTW or if they go into the beginning of tGH with the theft of the horn.
I take all the plotline speculation with a grain of salt at this point - each WoT youtuber has a different take and its fun to discuss but that is about the extent of consideration i'm giving any of the scenarios at this point.

Yea. Definitely too early to grind teeth about plot. I wouldn’t be a fan of the Tar Valon pivot, but that seems unsubstantiated.
But anyway. Even throwing out boom 9, WoT is far more dense than GOT, even completed imo.
So many damn characters and events. You have to choose something to expedite certain plot threads to get to the real meat of this.
I just hope The Great Hunt is done justice as it was one of my favorite early books in the series.

I just want to see Dumai's Wells on the screen.

I just ant to see the Age of Legends in Rhuidean - that whole click click click sequence had my jaw on the floor
Posted on 11/6/20 at 11:20 am to Sneaky__Sally
I just hope they do not omit too many awesome things in the name of limited time and budget, but somehow manage to create a whole new series of plot lines, especially if, but not only if, they are gratuitously woke.
Agree with the age of legends and DumaiWells scenes!

Looking at the timeline and all - I think they could do something like a split release for the 1st season.
The first 4 episodes will probably be complete early next year - could do a 4 week release of of the 1st while they finish shoots in April or early summer and then do post production and release 2nd half of the season in early fall.
Seems doubtful they do it that way but I think it could generate some excitement as people are dying for some new shows to watch already.
Plus I really hope they do week to week release like Mandalorian - I think it helps get people talking and discussing theories and helps build momentum online - especially for a show like this which will have a lot of mystery and intrigue

Official account posted something hinting at something big tomorrow.

Expecting something within the next hour.
Hopefully it is something significant. They really need to start getting the hype train going even though we are likely not looking at a release until summer.

It was a reveal of Rand’s Heron Marked blade and the amount of effort that went to its production.
Rafe is also answering a bunch of questions on Twitter about production design.
He did comment that: Moiraine won’t have her staff...
And that when they do change things from the books it’s because others have done it too often before on screen, often stealing from WOT so they did feel the need to differentiate at times.
Also commented they are adapting Wheel of time, not Eye of the World, so they tried to approach season 1 that way.
And that they used “real” as much as possible, more than a lot of other fantasy productions, instead of CGI.

One most noticeable thing about the sword: there is a heron mark on the blade but not the hilt.
Which leads to the question:
SPOILERS
How shall he be "twice and twice marked" if the heron isn't on the hilt? Does he clutch the blade?
