Just to remind everyone that the NFL has defined itself in court as a Sports Entertainment Business. This argued in court when the Jets fans sued the New England Patriots and the NFL for the SpyGate years ago. The courts found in favor of the NFL. What this means is fixing a game is legal.

There is no possible way that those penalties were missed. They were ignored. Add to the fact that many of the officials were from LA?

So what’s the point in even watching?

If I want to spend money to see something that I don’t know what the predetermined outcome is, I’ll just go to a movie.

Football in general (college as well as the NFL) needs a Black Sox scandal to shake things up. Public confidence in the sport is being eroded.

Then betting on it should be illegal. It's based on the premise that the two teams decide the outcome.

The OP's premise is dumb and wrong, but fwiw, you can bet on wrestling as well, betting on who will win.

It is amazing that so many adults were not aware of this fact until now.

Why do you think any professional sports league in history was started? To make money by getting as many people as possible to pay for their product.

What other purpose would a professional sports league have?

Legit didn't know that. Thanks.

My premise is that the event is sold to bettors as a competition, and money is spent placing bets based on that premise.

If it's staged entertainment, they need to stop with the facade IMO.

It seems wrong and something that shouldn't be permitted by law.

Everything about it screams fraud to me.

Good question. I really wouldn’t know. I KNOW that’s rigged, so I don’t do either.

You can bet on both wrestling and football, but with wrestling the outcomes are fixed as a rule. With football it is not, and yes it is very illegal for the NFL to be fixing games(not saying they are)

Can you explain then why Tim Donaghy was investigated by the FBI and went to jail for fixing games?

This is a funny video that goes with this story:

However, yesterday's game tells proves to me there is no credibility in the NFL. You may as well watch and bet on professional wrestling.

You’d be surprised at how many people in this day and time actually believe that wrestling isn’t fake. Those are the kinds of suckers that the sports books prey upon.

I know sometimes Hollywood movies have different endings and they let the view choose which one. Maybe do that in football and everyone will be happy.

Happiness = $$$$$$$

Fixing NFL game - LEGAL
Fixing College Game - JAIL

I know someone from Baton Rouge at the tme who went to jail for putting the fix on an LSU game in the late 60's-ealry 70's.

Because he was caught gambling on his fixed games. Has he fixed the games with no money involved he would still be an official in the NBA.
