Because we have some of the worst infrastructure, least educated populace, and most business hostile judicial system. That’s fricking why

The salient issue, whether you like Together Baton Rouge or not, is why are the tax breaks that are given by LA so much higher than any other state even for the same industry/companies when there isn't a corresponding growth in the economy. On the surface, it would seem other states get the same or more for less, if you have better sources that suggest otherwise I would be interested.
Because it's been shown the businesses don't come without the tax breaks. What Together BR also just conveniently likes to leave out when comparing Louisiana to Texas is state income tax, which Texas doesn't have. Together BR is such a bullshite organization that will ruin what little economy BR does have.

I guess their tax incentive expired so they are bailing on the community?
The implication being that they owe something to the community?

would imagine they are bombarding Hood with resumes
Several companies called the mayor and said they are hiring. Exxon really stepped up.
Some of the Thompson pipe guys left for TX instantly. They were told about the closure a few weeks ago. I'm guessing those are the ones with kids and wanted to get a jump start on this new semester. Still many are staying and still working.

You keep saying this. Did they actually hire? Last I read, they were “looking” at hiring people.

Pipe plant not closing for a few more months. Not sure they would hire within 3 days of the announcement.

BASF? GP?
So no one has really "stepped up". Sure, there may be a few hires, and of course other companies, including Exxon, have issued press releases about their willingness to hire, but that's all just talk.

Exxon said would hire many BASF employees and see where there may be a fit for GP. All those baws still have jobs for a couple more months.

I would imagine Exxon is moving cautiously, waiting to see if the Mensas on the Metro Council are going to side with the TBR terrorists and yank all their tax incentives. Listening to these hired guns get to the microphones and blame all the EBR Parish school system woes on Exxon not paying enough taxes is sickening. Those carpetbaggers need to be ridden out of town.
For those questioning Louisiana versus Texas, the total incentives provided are very very similar, they are packaged differently because the two states’ tax structures are very different. And if all things are equal do you go to a state that has their shiite together or one full of corruption, crime, terrible schools, some of the worst roads and infrastructure and multimillionaire shysters practicing in front of crooked judges?
Even with all that, the location of the $7 Billion Exxon greenfield project was a tossup between the two states until JBE told Exxon executives he didn’t care if Louisiana got that project or not. Apparently he would rather attract minimum wage employers knowing that would add to his voters. Can’t have those high paying jobs and an educated workforce, they won’t vote for him.

Same reason Exxon declined to make zero investment or expansions this year. “Very poor business climate on local and state level.” JBE and the mayor got thier taxes passed and that’s all that mattered to them. Taxes are thier bank and it’s full now.....

After the vote last night, I would guess Exxon will not make anymore investments at the BR facility in the foreseeable future.

This vote happens as Exxon is looking at a $1B expansion that WAS considered between BR and one of their Texas locations. Well, I think BR just got dropped from that list.

Yep... 1 Billion more in Industry going to Houston. Wonder how much longer until Houston becomes the country's largest city?

1. New York City, NY – 8,174,959
2. Los Angeles, CA – 3,792,657
3. Chicago, IL – 2,695,598
4. Houston, TX – 2,096,661
I don't think this includes the greater houston area though where I some figures include The Woodlands. I live in Cypress which I think is included in that number. I'm not a city person at all, but enjoy lot of greenspace where we are and dont have to travel far for anything.
