Do you gentlemen have any reccomdations for air rifles. I grew up with a Benjamin that was my fathers. I'm 53 so I'm positive things have changed since the one I wore out and had refurbished several times. Thanks in advance.

Do you prefer pump, break barrel, or PCP?

.177, .22, .25, .50?

I just went through this research.

I bought the Benjamin Trail NP2 that shoots .22 caliber.

Freaking love this air rifle.
I have killed dozens of rabbits with it and some larger animals as well.

Every male neighbor has bought one after shooting mine.
It is accurate, quiet and deadly.

Good luck!!

Just get yourself one of these in .22 and save yourself a lot of trouble looking for an accurate, powerful air-rifle. It's a bit on the heavier side, and if you want a lighter air-rifle, try a Gamo Whisper CFR.

If money is no object check out this guy's youtube channel. Air riffles have come a long way since the old Benjamin Pump.

Benjamin 392 pump in .22 cal if you’re interested in open sites (Williams peep site is highly recommended add on).

If you want to go the PCP (precharged pneumatic) route. The Benjamin Discovery in .22 takes a scope well, light accurate & fun to shoot. PCP’s require an external air source like a high pressure air pump(pumps are expensive).

Next up from there would be a Marauder .25 cal. Has a shrouded barrell & silencer. Tack driver but very heavy. Powerful. Ammo for the .25 is expensive. But the you can get it in .177 or .22

Are you looking to target shoot, plink or hunt?

I shot an FX Wildcat MKII and now I want one bad.... we were shooting q-tips at 30 yards with it. Great gun but not cheap. My buddy that has it hunt squirrels with it. Its not as heavy as other PCP. One knock on the PCP is you need a tank to fill them and they aren't cheap. You also need a place to fill those tanks if you dont have a compressor.

I have a Gamo .177 break barrel. It’s the most popular one on Amazon. A big upgrade over the Red Ryder with iron sights I was using

I shoot / hunt squirrel with a DayState Harrier X in .22 caliber with dual moderators (silencers). Carry a carbon fiber tank to refill when psi gets low. Stupid quiet and accurate as my longest kill is a crow at 77 yds.

Question, do you find the scopes that come with most rifles are junk? Is there an air rifle scope you recommend? The scope on my Gamo will no longer take an adjustments, no matter how many clicks I do.
