You could say the exact same thing about Orgeron.

I just don't understand the hate for Herman.
First rule of tiger rant...you must love or hate everything, they are either Tigers are they hate the Tigers. Nothing in the middle. Yeah we may have wanted him to come here, we may publicly lynch our AD for not hiring him or Jimbo...but now, we fricking hate all of em...everyone.

“ I don’t see a reason to lose this game. “

That’s pretty much what was said about the A&M game.

If we are going to contend that Coach O is trending up, we should be willing to admit that Coach Herman has Texas trending up even more.

Orgeron has taken LSU from 9 wins to 10 wins with a NY6 bowl victory. Herman has taken Texas from 5 wins to 10 wins with a NY6 victory. Both coaches are doing pretty well,

One of these coaches is doing a better job than the other one...

I wouldn't say he used us at all. Texas had completely decided to not fire Strong seemingly no matter what with only a few games left. But after losing his last 3 games, 2 at home, with one being to a very bad Kansas team, it really gave Texas no other option except to fire him.

You sir, used common sense and looked at things not only objectively but realistically. There is no place for you on this board. You must immediately only focus on the Georgia win and admit, nay, confess that Orgeron will bring us a national championship to be welcome here.

Delusional arse… Herman is 100X better coach than Zero.

We may have a talent edge and win the game. Zero can't out coach anyone.

Only thing that gives me pause about that game is that Herman has seemed to have a pretty good ability to get his guys up and craft a game plan for big games.

Beating Georgia and Oklahoma this year as well as Oklahoma last year as the main examples.

They were 1-1 vs. OU this season and using a bowl game as a barometer is silly for several reasons: (1) do you really think UGA's top NFL prospect skips the game if it's played in October and (2) the Sugar Bowl was a disappointment relative to Georgia's preseason goals. For Texas, it was one of the biggest games in 10 years.

Orgeron can't and isn't going to come up with some great game plan to beat Texas (if that happens, it will be the work of the DC/OC). However, one of the few things Orgeron is good at is getting his guys motivated to play. On more than a few occasions he's gotten LSU to quickly bounce back from a tough loss.

To that end, there may not be a game all of next season (including Alabama) in which O is more personally motivated to win. He fully acknowledges he wasn't LSU's first choice to be HC and though he may not specifically state it, he knows Herman was. If there was EVER an opportunity to prove everyone wrong...media, LSU fans, administration, etc., this it it.

I don't think O is a great coach. But I have NO DOUBT he will be fully locked in for this game.

Ummmm no. First Georgia was at the Sugar bowl in name only, no effort and the Cotton bowl matchup with OK is one f those crazy games where the underdog seems to win. I live in Texas and bombarded with UT propaganda but Herman isn’t the savior there

No reason to get our panties in a wad over coaches who choose to go elsewhere. It's business, not personal.

Normally I would agree. But I think in this instance it is very much personal. Texas and LSU both offered him the same opportunity, to be their HC. Until Texas fired their coach, all indications were he was set to become LSU's HC. However, he made a decision to choose Texas over LSU, and I doubt money was the main reason. LSU would have paid more for him, but I don't think they wanted to get into a bidding war only to raise the asking price of the next guy when Herman inevitably went to Texas (because that's where he really wanted to be).

Certainly it's his prerogative to chose the job he felt is best. But in doing so, he essentially said Texas is a better program than LSU. Next year is LSU's (and Orgeron's) to personally prove that opinion wrong.

Make no mistake, for the administration and Orgeron, this game is VERY personal. Same for the LSU fanbase, because he clearly told you your school/team isn't as worthy of his services as Texas.

How many players did they lose from their 3rd ranked recruiting class in 2018?

Where is this game being played again?

Against a secondary comprised entirely of high 4 and 5 star DBs.

It's a winnable game, no doubt, but also the second toughest on our schedule. Texas isn't UCF. Pump your brakes with that easy win junk.

LSU's schedule sets up nicely for an 11-1 season in 2019 because of who they get at home. Texas in Austin is going to be a tough one.
