I mean if the State can’t prove the driver was impaired or distracted and it was purely an accident...I don’t see the reason for locking him up for 20 years.

This is part of the problem. Nobody takes driving as serious as it should be because we do it so much, but this guys direct actions caused someone to lose their life and another to be seriously injured all because he had his head up his arse. I’m not saying he should get the chair, but someone’s life is definitely worth more than 90 days and especially 15.

it wasn't purely an accident. he saw them before he hit them. whatever happens in between, call it bad luck or negligence, is the driver's fault. this should be negligent homicide at a minimum. this is the kind of shite that makes our justice system look like a joke.
