I am not much of a hunter but I am going duck hunting and possibly deer hunting this weekend. I went to Academy and bought a license but I want to make sure that I have everything that I will need. I bought the basic hunting license, resident big game, and federal duck stamp. The person at Academy told me if I bought federal duck stamp I didn't need a Louisiana duck stamp. Now someone is telling me that I need a Louisiana duck stamp. Here is a copy of my license. What else do I need.

Sorry for the newbie question.

You do need the state duck stamp, you can purchase online from the LDWF website.

Pretty sure only the feds print stamps. Look for a Louisiana duck license. I think it's $5.50

you need the state duck stamp like wick says, log on to the WLF site and buy it/print the receipt. you also need to sign your federal stamp and stick it on the back of your licenses

Depending on where you hunt and which weapon you may need one or more of the following:

LA Duck - $5.50
WMA Permit - $15.00
Bow Permit - $10.50
Primitive Permit - $10.50

If you hunt Tensas NWR there is also an annual permit for that place.

I think they will mail the stamp to me as the license says that its valid for 45 days after purchase. I won't have it by the weekend. is that OK?

Rule number 1 of hunting: Never trust the lady selling you a license at a big box store

That's why they are working at Academy instead of a consulting firm.
