You have to wonder if someone in the DOJ had to approve this extension.
I think the time is nearing where Meuller needs to report progress and DOJ needs to decide if it’s time to shut it down.

I knew it. He's going to run this shite into the ground well into 2020 especially if Trump wins re-election. At some point Trump will need to go scorched earth and declassify documents. If Mueller is still running his witch hunt when Trump declassifies, they can go after Trump for interfering with the investigation. Goal is to cover up evidence (deleting strozk page texts), to keep heat on Trump with leaks to media, and make sure he can't declassify docs.

It isn't ending until Trump fires him or Trump is impeached/indicted. I laugh every time I hear a story about how Mueller is wrapping up. He's going nowhere the entire first term and will make noise throughout Trump's reelection campaign.

He had to ask federal judges to approve extensions on his grand jury like this but he didn't report to the AG like Mueller does. The Independent Counsel law was changed because an IC wasn't answerable to DOJ and functioned a bit like a mini-DOJ unto himself.
