My friend should practice what he preaches.

A couple of years ago, a good friend of mine lost his wife of 25+ years to a brain tumor. He took her death real hard and for a while he was having a difficult time coping with her loss which I totally understand. I’m not religious at all, but I really feel his faith in God and the support he got from his church members helped him pull through such a difficult time. Anyway, he met a woman from another church that he has been dating for two months and for the first time since his wife passed he seemed very happy and there was even talk about getting serious until she opened up about her past. She’s a recovering drug addict (10 years sober) and in her younger days (she’s 56), she was a stripper for a short time.
She came clean because she wanted a serious relationship with him and she also wanted to serve God with him in the church he attends, but he couldn’t deal with her past and he refuses to talk to her now. He came over to my house and told me about the situation and wanted to know my opinion about it. I told him straight up, if God forgave her, why couldn’t he? He’s always going on and on about forgiveness, but yet he’s contradicting his own belief. We’ve all done things in our lives that we’ve not proud of, but does that disqualify us of forgiveness? Don’t preach forgiveness if you’re not willing to forgive. Rant over with.

In the spirit of forgiveness, I forgive you for not knowing how to spell practice.

I'd leave that to God, he's in the business, tell your friend to move on, his instincts are correct

At least he’ll know what to do with all those spare $1 bills.

Except strippers. Some things are unforgivable.
He's on the right track.

Forgiveness, yes. but I could see where he’d be hesitant to marry a former stripper.

I'd probably have a few reservations about getting serious with an ex drug addict stripper as well. Can't say I blame him.

I stripped for about two months while in college because I was beyond broke and desperate to get my head above water.
I would hate being with someone who was incapable of forgiving.

Yeah he needs to look past this
So what if she was a dancer? We’re all humans

I think there is a parable about this. The man who owed his boss millions of dollars and the boss forgave his debt but the man after all the grace was shown to him wouldn’t forgive a guy who owed him a few bucks. Human condition is a very powerful thing.

Forgiveness does not mean you have to marry the person. If someone was lying to you about a used car you are about to buy doesn't mean you have to buy it. You can forgive the lying but that doesn't mean to can't say no.

what does he have to forgive? Did she strip while in a relationship with him? Did she use while in a relationship with him? Is he some sort of diety who forgives people for past bad acts that had nothing to do with him?
nothing for him to forgive, and there's nothing wrong with not wanting to marry a former stripper.
