Captiva/Sanibel.
We stay at the South Seas resort on Captiva. LINK

Seashell capital of the world. We rent a golf cart and drive around the resort to the different beaches. You can venture off resort and there are a few restaurants etc you can drive over too. In my opinion as close to the Carribean feel without leaving the states.

Holy shite!!!

They basically say you get a hooker (sorry, private host) to stay with you during your entire stay, or you can change “Private Host” daily.

Destin is a place I would like to go, but what's the water like at that time of the year?

Very nice, particularly in May. I recommend a place called Jetty East.

Naples

We spent Thanksgiving in Sarasota and it was gorgeous. We drove down to Naples to meet family for lunch and it seemed really nice. Didn't make it to the beach there, but our family that lives there loves it.

Destin is nice but I'd rather stay in FWB ON THE ISLAND .. 5 minute drive to destin ... Avoid shite show that destin is and beaches are the same
