you should keep Jrue and Niko at a minimum. Probably try and keep Randle too

I don’t think you can keep Randle and Niko even if you don’t go total rebuild. Too much money for guys who do not complement each other defensively. Both need to play with a rim protector and AD is our only one.

Jrue has a bad turnover issue, especially at the end of games. That's why we need a primary facilitator even if hes playing with AD.. A lineup of

Smart
Jrue
Tatum
Niko
Robin Lopez

Would not be as bad as you think, as long as we dont have an idiot for a coach that would keep Lopez at the 3 point line... Jrue, Tatum and Niko can all hit the 3, and Smart, Jrue and Lopez can all score in the paint..

What would be the biggest issue with that lineup?

Umm 3 non shooters in that lineup.

Also, the timeline of Jrue and Tatum don’t line up.

ETA: Jrue has shot @ at or over 35% once in the last 4 seasons.

turns the ball over at an alarming rate

2.4 ast/to ratio and is third in the league in assist

Start listing the super stars that facilitate and have a higher ratio. He is in line or among the best in the league right now.

There’s no sugar coating it with stats. Jrue does not do well as the primary creator when the defense tries hard. When the defense is at normal levels of pressure he’s fine. You at least need a Rubio or Payton next to him (or Ben Simmons).

Just because hes not a 40% 3 point shooter, doesnt mean hes not a shooter.. Jrue is good at the midrange, are you expecting to have 5 players sitting at the perimeter at all times?

2.4 isn’t elite. 3/1 is elite.

3rd in the league in assists
4th in turnovers.

The more the ball is in his hands the worst the team plays.

However he can get to the paint, which makes him a valuable offensive player.

I like Jrue, but it’s absolutely the smart move to trade him if Davis is traded.

Just because you think he’s a good shooter doesn’t mean he is.

Also, north of 35% is considered above average.

Jrue has been below average for 3/4 seasons.

Not sure how many other franchises are going to pay that much money for Jrue...

There aren't a lot, but there are some teams that would consider it. I honestly would like the Suns to make a call if the Pels decided to totally blow it up. If you have a guard who is weaker defensively, Jrue is a perfect guy to pair next to him. I really would enjoy a Jrue/Booker back court.

I don't recall anyone complaining about Jrue's end of game turnovers in the playoffs.

Jrue can be a primary creator without a doubt. He just can't do it every single possession. Bound to turn it over eventually. As I've said a bunch of times, we ask to much of him.
You pair Jrue with another similar player, like Beal, and you let them share that end of game duty instead of Jrue taking all the burden every single possession of every single game.

Jrue has single handedly won us games this year b/c of his play in the closing minutes. he's also lost some. That burden shouldn't be solely on him every game like it is right now. This is where the blame falls on the coaches. instead of drawing up plays to get Moore an open look, or Niko an open look, or a mismatch for Randle, OR GIVE IT TO AD, we just give it to Jrue and say get us a bucket. Jrue isn't Lebron.

Beal would be a nice add. Just not sure we have any realistic chance of getting him.

you either make it happen for someone like Beal, or trade AD. Adding Kent Bazemore isn't going to keep AD. Give them our first and a future first that will be very attractive if we lose AD.

Would be nice if we could do a temporary trade dependent on AD re-signing.

this would seriously heart my heart.

trading AD would suck bad enough for me, but Jrue has become my favorite Pel and in no way are you going to get a good trade for him. Somebody's 1st? The chances of getting somebody of Jrue's caliber with a 10-20 pick is slim to none.

this team would be hard to watch if Jrue is gone. like unbearable.

Why do people think Marcus smart is good

I think Smart fills a big need on this team, another creater/wing defender who also brings much needed leadership. Because we'd potentially be trading with Boston he'd also be more available than better players we could get that check those boxes.

Smart has the ability to be the primary facilitator for a team, he can get hot from 3, and hes on a real team friendly deal.

I think Payton being out just has us panicking a bit. Him returning should plug that roster hole pretty well and a guy like Smart will seem less useful.
