ELO is one of the most underrated bands of all time. They’re top 5 all time for me.

Jeff Lynne once said they wanted to make the music the Beatles would have made if they had the new tech and I think he accomplished that task. Awesome band and one of my favorites who never seem to come up in the GOAT band debate.

Never was a huge fan of theirs, but damn if they didn't produce a ton of hits that have aged remarkably well.

Jeff Lynne always said he wanted to continue where the Beatles left off and I can appreciate where he was coming from, and I think they were solid.

Jeff Lynn never met an eighth note he didn't like.

I'm not sure ELO is underrated, necessarily, but Jeff Lynne is. Maybe a distinction without any real substance, but there it is.

They/he were phenomenal.

They had a string of albums from Eldorado through Out of the Blue which were top notch.

Not in the same universe as the Beatles. But I do like their music.

I could listen to the guitar intro of 10538 Overture for years on end and never get tired of it...

I like ELO and some of their stuff is stellar, but they were no Beatles by any means. Still a great band though.

No, they were not. There was a time where they were all encompassing, or shared domination with Elton John.

I like them more now than when I was a kid. Points off for "Don't Bring Me Down" though. Easily the stupidest lyrics ever written IMO.

Great band but they got killed by controversy that would not raise a peep today.

Love ELO and Jeff Lynne. His recent live at Wembley show is awesome.

Great band but they got killed by controversy that would not raise a peep today.

Playing over a backing string track live isn't what killed them in the late 70s-early 80s.

It was putting out Disco-very and then Xanadu. Lynn also made the short sided mistake of dumping his actual strings for electronic keyboards.
