$337 Mill worldwide as of today, Forbes is predicting $400 to $450 Mill after Sunday. It won't have the bad word of mouth of the non-Wonder-Woman movies, so it'll have that going for it.

I started my work vacation today so I just got out. It's really a mess. I dont even think it knows what it's really about. The performances are.....not consistant
With that said, OF COURSE an aquaman movie would be such a complete tonal mess and have three different competing plot lines that never fully develop into a coherent plot. It's mess actually works....cause its aquaman. And it's a bunch of fun. Its probably the second best DC movie

Just got out. Quick thoughts:
- Entertaining but felt very long especially the whole adventure quest stuff in the middle of the movie
- A bit over the top with the cgi but I guess that’s what Wan was going for, but a bit much for me
- Some good action sequences
- Amber Heard’s acting was suspect but she was so damn gorgeous I could’t take my eyes off her when she was on screen
- The Black Manta subplot was pointless and dull
- The emotional beats hit well, especially the mother stuff. Nicole Kidman was the standout acting wise in this movie
- Music choice in certain scenes was bad
- Too many conversation-interupting explosions. It was like a running gag.
- Overall a fun time and good effort by DC

The Atlantic: Aquaman Has No Business Being This Good
quote:
There’s a lot going on in this movie, and Wan happily dumps it all in the viewer’s lap, highlights it in various shades of neon, and dials the visual inventiveness up to maximum. This is a sensory-overload movie, but in a good way—the action isn’t chopped to pieces and dully rendered as in so many superhero movies, and the film never pauses to address some unrelated spin-off or sequel in the DC world. This is a story about the fraught political situation of Atlantis, and the necessity of a consensus-building, holy-trident-wielding half-human coming in to institute various reforms. Some of those reforms might involve giant crab people. If you have a problem with that, the exits in your theater are clearly marked.

God this movie sucked so hard. I thought they were joking but they took a failed Chinese film and literally added the aqua man parts. The story was all over the place, acting was bad, and I just didn’t care for any of the characters except for maybe his human dad.

Probably gonna see it Sunday, like what I'm hearing so far.
Want my superhero movies to be fun, not glum.

Just got out with by kids. We all loved it. Momoa killed it as aqua man. I agree he doesn’t have the traditional look but he carries himself well as a lead in a big budget movie. Heard looked great and the rest of the cast did well enough. Kidman was great but between the CGI early years scenes and the way she looks now her face doesn’t move much.
Black Manta was neat to see but didn’t seem to fit in and felt forced to set up a sequel. Dolph was a nice touch just cause why not! Overall it was a great popcorn flick with more rewatchabity than most DC movies lately.

I loved Mera calling Dolph out for pretending to be obtuse to Orm’s obvious machinations. It was as if she was admitting to the audience that they were aware that they were working with an old timey adventure serial plot.

I liked half of it, I didn't like the other half. Mamoa is awesome. His adventure scenes with Mera are a lot fun, although Heards acting could be much better.
I know that the movie had to have a a ton of CGI, but I still couldn't help but cringe at a lot of the underwater scenes. Some were just so bad. I was trying so hard not to bust out laughing. Still, there was a lot of good here and I would recommend it to people.

I felt the same. The Black Manta fight scene wth the oversized helmet was a little cheesy. It reminded me of the Power Rangers show that came on TV when I was younger

So BvS is better than justice league?
You dumb
BvS is a complete movie. JL is fun but it a patchwork film at best.
Neither is as fun as Aquaman or Wonder Woman.

BvS had more holes in it than the shipwreck Arthur was discovered in after first getting to Atlantis.

Took my nephews to see Aquaman earlier today. It was great for a DC film, about average for a Marvel film (would put it around Ant Man and The Wasp).
The CGI was grand, maybe a bit much at times but it's understandable once you consider the type of world they were trying to showcase.
Mamoa's take on Aquaman still doesn't feel right to me, but Aquaman has always either been pretty one dimensional or a "wet Thor". Still, he makes the character his own and does a great job doing it.
Kidman did a fantastic job. For some reason I was really focused on her character and looking for acting flaws, I found none. What's strange is I liked the story of her and Arthur's father more than I liked Arthur's story. The most emotional moment to me was the end where she finally re-appears on the dock.
As a footnote to that, the writers did a good job with not just the relationship of the parents, but that of Arthur with his father.
Manta has always been a shallow character, I think they actually gave him a bit more depth than he's had before. He still felt throw-away but not nearly as bad as it could have been. With that said, I really did enjoy their fight scenes after he had the Atlantean tech.
The fight scenes going through the Italian village were a really nice touch. Looking at the two different battles going on at the same time through such an expanded view made them seem less epic but made them feel more real.
The Orm storyline worked well, especially with Mera confronting her father about the ridiculousness of a sub just happening to show up at their secret meeting spot at just the right time.
Speaking of Orm, much of the time the camera was doing a close-up on Wilson he seemed to be looking a little too off-center. It was annoying.
Overall the movie was big and fun. Much of the humor was predictable (which detracts from the humor) but the action and effects more than make up for it. Definitely worth going to see in the theater.

The parents’ story is classic. Having the love story in the movie about Aquaman’s parents was a nice change. Arthur and Mera are more teammates than a romantic couple. When he finally kisses Mera, it’s a friendly kiss on the forehead. I think it helped that we weren’t burdened with an additional love story between the hero and his partner.
