Hardin Simmons, the opening home game of the 1958 season. Tigers won 20-6 and I was hooked for life.

Southeastern vs. LSU - 1949. Tiger Stadium was still a horseshoe then.

First from start to finish is the bluegrass miracle. Although I remember bits and pieces of the 01 sugar bowl.

I can’t remember the opponent but my parents took me and a friend to a game when we were in the 1st grade. 95 season I think. We sat on the very last row of the upper deck

In person or on TV?
I don’t remember a particular game on tv but was during the Dalton Hilliard years.

In person
October 11, 1997 in the upset of No.1 UF

Orange Bowl - New Year's Day 1971. LSU v. Nebraska. Watched it on TV at my grandfather's house in Franklin.

I remember talking about the LSU - Ole Miss game where we won 61-17 the month before (Dec. 1970) and seeing a bunch of signs around campus but I don't actually remember if I watched that game on TV (if it was televised in BR).

BTW - I see LSU was listed as "conference champion" by Wikipedia that year. I wonder why they didn't go to the Sugar Bowl instead of the Orange Bowl.

well not watching, but on the radio.

1966 Game LSU - Ark (Cotton Bowl) .. had been in the US for about 3 years.
First year in Louisiana .. that sealed the deal for me.

My first game in person, as well. I was in the south stands and could see the play developing--I knew it was a touchdown!

Nov 28, 1964. Florida at LSU postponed to the final weekend due to a hurricane. Florida won 20-6 with heisman trophy winner Steve Spurrier at QB. Tigers only points came from 2 FG's from Doug Moreau.

The first game I remember watching on television was the January 1, 1966 Cotton Bowl. Great win for Charlie Mac over top ranked Arkansas. The first game I ever attended was the win over Miami during the 1966 season. I have been going ever since.

LSU - USC 1979. I know I watched more before that because I always watched games with my dad from birth. But, that fame in 1979
Is first that I really remember.

Conference ties to bowl games were not as rigid then - except for the Rose Bowl. The Orange Bowl usually invited a Big 8 Team and an ACC team or an independent east coast team (e.g., Penn State or Syracuse). LSU had played in the Sugar Bowl in 65 and 68 and the fans and the team wanted something different. The Tigers expressed a preference for the Orange Bowl that year and got the invitation.
