I see a lot of people talking trash on Coach O all over these boards. However, who else are we going to get. Our best option a few years ago was Jimbo. But that ship has sailed so people need to move on. I encourage folks to be positive or else you will drive the team into the gutter (see the Tennessee debacle last year). Doesn’t matter because Saban is going to have Alabama in top until he dies or decides to retire. Until then be happy with 9 wins. Might even get to 10.

Next year, Joe will run for more yardage than any lsu qb before him. With some more development to recognize coverages, he could be a very dangerous weapon next season. I think we've seen flashes, but they gonna run the shite out of him vs ucf.

His #1 attribute to this team was his performance with the game on the line. He continued to produce every single time. Even after the INT against Florida he came right back and threw perfect passes that were dropped that could have continued the last drive and send that game into OT. Props to Burrow and his 4th qtr/OT magic in 2018. Fun to watch.

So you scrounge up a pic of the two and you somehow think that proves your point. Hilarious. You can't make this shite up.

Sure I appreciate him, but people have overrated him to high heaven. There was a list somebody had where LSU was only middle of the SEC in drop rate. Let LSU fans tell it, we are the worst ever. I've told people several times that because we aren't used to seeing a decent volume of passing, we think our drops are some otherworldy bad problem, when it actually falls in the medium.

Burrow wasn't some amazing QB in the big games either
11/24 45.8% 158 yards vs Miami
15/34 44.1% 249 yards 1 TD vs Auburn
19/34 55.9% 192 yards 2 ints vs UF
15/30 50.0% 200 yards vs UGA
16/28 57.1% 129 yards 1 int vs Miss St
18/35 51.4% 184 yards 1 int vs Bama
25/38 65.8% 292 yards 3 TDs vs TAMU (219 yards 3 TDs in regulation)

*TAMU had the 109th pass defense.

If y'all want to hold QBs to a certain standard, hold all of them to it. I remember all the bullshite Harris got in 2015 and if he had pass numbers like this in these games, people would have never let you hear the end of it.

Outside of that long run vs UGA and running it tough, but a bunch, vs TAMU, his rushing in big games is non-existent as well.

Burrow as a passer is still way off from what we really need out of him, but as a sensible person, I cut him some slack because of issues with OL and it's his first year starting. His rushing should look a little better in year two with better backs on the read option as well. No excuses for next year though, just like Brandon Harris got.

This. I talk about things like this to fans of other teams all the time. We at LSU are so freaking delusional, that what Joe Burrow did this year, even with some handicaps, is deemed as good.

Many a team's fanbase would have crucified Burrow this year. Believe me or not, I follow many teams and their fanbases would be pissed if Burrow played like he did for them, and continued to start this year.

Good thing is that he has time to learn and grow from this. Of course it would help immensely if we got an actual good OC/QB coach, but...yeah, I've made myself sad now

First year starter. He's could and should improve drastically with an off season to prepare as the starter and Lord willing a new OC.

Key word "should". And yes Lord willing on a new OC.

Burrow very well could have put those numbers up under Ohio offense, against those bad defenses, with better protection, run game, receivers, and play calling. We can't know but I think he is. He sometimes holds the ball too long but beside that, he looks so damn good just held back by the endless shortcomings we have.

Nah, it's too big of a difference. You're talking an extra 35 TDs, 2000 pass yards, 12.8%, and 2 whole yards per attempt. I'd say with Ohio St he'd be around 3500 yards 64% with 30 TDs. It's a system he was used to, with WRs he was use to. Ohio St's offensive line was bad as well. If LSU people actually watched them this year they wouldn't be saying shite about scheme not being able to cover up deficiencies on the OL.

Ohio Sts oline allowed no sacks in the big games though, if LSU does that they are SEC champs.

Dat you are going to piss them off discussing their double standards. They blame everything but Burrow for his mediocre play. Harris had the same things negatively impacting his play plus he had Les “Play not to lose” “QB destroying” Miles as his coach.

Anyone check out the All-SEC offensive team(s)?
No LSU linemen named to first or second team.
No LSU backs named to first or second team.
When that changes, our scheme will look a lot bette

So whats the excuse for our offense looking like garbage against mid majors?
Are you saying Southeastern has as much talent as lsu?

Yeah I don’t get why he didn’t rush more the rest of the season. Its almost like we had an injured backup and no 3rd string QB or something.

well, this much, at least, we can deduce.

Miles won a title and played for another. He was expected to do so again (hence the reason people got irate when he didn't).
He also cost more money than his replacement.

AD had a choice to make- continue to pay Miles premium dollar and then also invest in the ongoing pursuit of Saban's machine over in Tuscaloosa, or trade in for a used model with less expectations.
Probably based on various analytics, LSU determined they couldn't catch up with Bama at this time, but the overall system was in place to keep churning out 9-10 win seasons with a competent coach running things.
Note- I said competent, not great or even very good. All O has to do is keep running Miles' (and Saban's) program, and he will do well enough to keep LSU on the positive side of the ledger.
I fully believe O is the placeholder here, meant to keep LSU ranked as long as Saban is at Bama. Nothing more. I think the business plan is to play safe until Saban retires, at which point I think we then push hard to get the best coach.

The sales pitch will be this:
we were able to stay ranked with Orgeron, so there's potential in the program. And now that Saban is out of the way, LSU's as viable as any other SEC West program to step into the void.

I made it up? Who got O the job as D-Line coach? Who convinced Alleva with "the binder"? Who is at O's side EVERY time you see him? yeah, I made it all up.
