I'm guessing that's season totals? I'd be interested in seeing the numbers since we really buckled down, like since the Apple trade. They've been undoubtedly trending the right direction every week.

Rushing YPG: 1st

So are you trying to shite on the saints D or talking good about them?. Cause the last half of the season the Saints have been one of the top Defenses in the league.

A poster in another thread said we’re 6th in points against if you take out the first game where we were overconfident and had to deal with fitzmagic as well as the fact we always start slow.
I’m glad we’re getting luck with recovering fumbles this year because last year we were in the top 10 in forcing them but we were in the 20s in recovering them.

I wonder how much of the yards we have given up were to QB scrambles. It seems that our defense is some what vulnerable to a mobile QB.

Points per game is all that matters. We have a top 10 defense. Bottom line

Those seasonal numbers are a bit deceptive. Our pass d is still a bit weak but the run d has been awesome and we've been very opportunistic. Overall much improved.

THE RINGER
quote:
The Saints, who rank eighth in weighted defensive DVOA (a metric that accounts not just for strength of opponent but accounts more heavily for how a team’s played in recent games), are quietly on a tear through the past five weeks. In that stretch, they’ve given up an average of just 13.0 points per game (first), surrendered an 80.3 opponent passer rating (sixth) and eight opponent touchdowns (second), and racked up an astounding 24 sacks (first) and 12 takeaways (tied for second). After struggling to defend on third downs early in the year, New Orleans has turned up the pressure and made great strides in that crucial area. Since Week 10, the Saints have allowed first downs on 35.6 percent of third-down plays—tied for 10th-best—and neutralized opposing quarterbacks with a league-high 13 sacks and four forced fumbles in those situations.

what about that post makes you think it's negative?

The saints once held Barry Sanders to less than 50 yards rushing. The defenses of old were absolutely fricking brutal.

1st in Rushing defense usually means opposition is behind and passing a lot. I suspect Ken Crawley prevented teams from running also.

Rush Yards per attempt is also stout. Their rush defense ranking isn't a fluke, the front 7 is 100% legit.
ETA:
Opponent rush yards per attempt - Tied with Dallas and Houston for 1st

Absolutely. The DL especially has really come on strong. Cam we knew about, but Rankins has really improved a ton this year. Okafor and Davenport have shown flashes and are coming along nicely too. Davis is obviously great at LB and the others have played well too, especially Anzalone.
The secondary is still the weakness but they do have improved. I think a lot of that is from teams have to pass to catch up when we jump on them.
Man alive, what I wouldn’t give to add PP21 and/or Devin White to this unit
