Spent last season as DC at Colorado, and had a brief interview with Ole Miss Friday

Is this a good hire?

He was a decent DC at Kentucky before he left but nothing to really write home about. Stoops brought him along from FSU. House is better IMO.

His defense was so-so at Colorado but he's well thought of in the coaching community so there must be a reason

Was not a fan of his while at UK but maybe he's improved.

For all of his faults, Les Miles was pretty good at picking assistant coaches.

So far, so good. His staff looks solid out there.

I think Eliot will do well with Les at Kansas.

Malveto and Bill Clay....

Miles didn't always get it right the first time.

Ok? Those were clearly the outliers and not the trend

How many DC's did he hire at LSU?

attempted to bring Bill Clay, Pelini, Malveto, Chavis, Steele and Aranda.

I would say he is shooting about 50%.

It's a pretty solid hire. Colorado's biggest issue the last two years what their offense couldn't get many sustained drives going. IMO that was mainly b/c Montez constantly gets happy feet, never steps up in the pocket, and instead bails the moment the pocket got any push back. Their defense is pretty much what would keep them in games for the most part but it got worn down far too often.

He will be a good recruiter but he sucks as DC. His personality is that of a woman.

Some of you don't realize how awful KU's former DC was. He was basically unfireable as he was a players coach, alum, and pals with doners & the AD at the time.
