We have 2 kids under 3 so just looking for a relaxing weekend. I thought about Gulf Shores or even Galveston. I am not shutting out New Orleans but just figured it would be nice to do something different.
One place I was looking at was Grand Hotel Resort and Spa in Fairhope.
I am not one that likes to sit around all day so trying to think of something that can find something to do during the day.

Austin is 6 hours from Lafayette, just made the trip recently. If you can find some live music it's a good place for a drive able 3 day weekend. NOLA has more to offer but Austin is a decent change of pace and scenery. Gulf Shores/Perdido area is an option if you want to relax on the beach. If you like history, Natchez has some nice bed and breakfast type places and plantation homes you can stay at.

The ultimate conundrum.
When is this trip?

Galveston
Galveston isn't nice in the summertime, you defiantly don't want to go in January.

The Grand is an awesome place, but I’m not sure if the kids would enjoy it in the winter.
NOLA has a lot mote stuff for families than you think. Pull up the website for City Park. They have added some new things in the last few years. You could spend a whole day there
Galveston is def not worth the drive
