I just went today to a restaurant supply house and purchased a heavy duty alloy 14 qt and lid. I already have a 16 qt heavy duty alloy. My cast iron Dutch Oven is in 10 qt and 20 qt.
Magnalite is great but old school in my opinion.

You can make gumbo in a washtub, so my comments are less about gumbo and more about what I think you want.
Get a pot with a reinforced base. Cheap pots are thin. Foods will burn on the bottom.
Get one with a matching lid. Some don't come with this.
A curved/beveled rim helps pour liquids.
Go taller rather than wider. Tall sides limit evaporation and are great for simmering. They are hot though. Making a roux in one, I have to use a hot glove.
Get one with a reinforced base. Important enough to say it twice.

I recommend the All-Clad pot with the colander insert. Make the stock in the pot, remove the colander and proceed.

I've got a 16 qt. stainless steel heavy duty pot with the turbo style bottom that allows it to heat up quickly, or help distribute heat nicely if simmering. That has become my go-to pot for making big batches of gumbo.
I'll make my roux in my 5 qt. cast iron pot simply because I don't care for reaching into a deep pot while the roux is browning and chancing contact burns on my hands and arms.
To be safe when simmering the gumbo or any other food cooked in large quantities, I use a heavy duty heat diffuser that sits on top the burner grate between the burner and the pot and this allows for me to do other things while food slow cooks and keeps things from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Matter of fact, I'm cooking 4 gallons of chicken/andouille/okra gumbo for an event this coming Tuesday and the above pot will be my cooking vessel.

Get a Winco heavy duty stock pot.... mine is 5mm (3/16") thick, plenty good enough for a good gumbo. I cook white beans and red beans in it too.

Chedballz I have Winco but this time I purchased a Johnson~Rose 6 mm heavy duty 14 qt from Caire Rest. Supply.
I fought myself from buying the 17” Lodge cast iron round skillet. Needed to stay focus.
Edit: Correction from my earlier post- Magnalite is great! I have some. My interest changed as I wanted something else. Taller versus wider or wider vs. taller. When I go shopping I see the Magnalite rip offs that have been copied in China. What I have read is Magnalite is out of business so I have moved on. Maybe this is why the Chinese copy cats.

Magnalite has never failed me but I'm currently in the market for a larger, taller, and narrower stainless pot to experiment with.

I got a 16 Qt All-Clad with a heavy copper bottom that holds the heat really well. You can cook on low temps and the heat is evenly distributed. Great for gumbo.

I'll look into those for my next purchase..... right now im about set with pots.
I would like to get the biggest Magbalite Roaster they make.

I looked on eBay for the 17 qt Magnalite and was reasonable.

Nice. That's probably the exact All-Clad one I was looking at. 6 qts bigger than my Magnalite too so it's healthier and I can freeze more gumbo.
