It sounds similar to a problem I had with spinal stenosis. If I was awake then my right arm was in pain.
The insurance company made me go through physical therapy before they would pay for surgery. The therapist and I both knew it was a waste of time but we jumped through the hoops.
Finally I had an old college friend operate on me. That was October of 2017. He fused three neck vertebrae with cadaver bone. The surgery must have worked pretty well because I woke up feeling better, have not had a problem since then, and the Coast Guard issued a medical certificate renewal for my inland master license.

I've recently been diagnosed with stenosis. I have nerve issues on my left arm. It's a bit mild but I'm afraid it's going to get worse over time.
It's always good to hear some fusion success stories. That shite scares me.

There is nothing to fear. As my doctor told me before he operated the biggest risk is about a one in four hundred chance of infection.
In the overall scheme of things it is not a major operation. There are literally hundreds of doctors who can do it but I chose the one I did because I know him and he has my complete confidence.

While I cannot offer any guarantees, I had 4,5,and 6 fused with a SS plate. Total restoration of range of motion, and no pain.
Prior to surgery, I wore a brace which helped.

You must go see a neurosurgeon before you paralyze yourself. You are in urgent need of medical care and NOT a chiropractor!!!

Go see a good chiropractor that takes xrays before doing anything.
Let them know what they are dealing with. Get it fixed.

As an RN, I would consider your problem an emergency!!! You need to see someone today!!!! ASAP!!!

I have a bad joint in my neck. sometimes it will act up and cause a muscle spasm and I can't move my neck. sometimes i'll get numbness and tingling
on the advice of a neurosurgeon, I take 800 mg of advil 3 times a day until it stops. I also put ice on it
if it's particularly bad, i'll go to the doctor for muscle relaxants. valium is by far the best one

it's probably not an emergency unless he's having weakness
I worked for a neurosurgeon for a couple years

It’s a freaking sore neck. Maybe before you head to the Mayo Clinic like some people are suggesting, you should pop some Advil and rest for a few days. This happens to me sometimes when I sleep wrong.

the problem with a fusion is not the operation itself. The problem with a fusion is that it weakens the levels above and below the fusion, requiring additional treatment later on and sometimes an extension of the fusion.
Try massage and stretching first. Take anti-inflammatories like Advil. Surgery should be an absolute last resort.

My C-4,5,6 fusion has been a walk in the park for the last 9 years. You are right that it can weaken above and below but there is a preventative for that. Soft collar when asleep.

Same thing with neck along with pain over the top of left shoulder and down left arm.
Pinched nerve in C6-C7 vertebrae.
Had a cortisone epidural last Friday in this area. Neck/shoulder/arm 100% better now
Was taking Flexeril for spasms, gabapentin for nerve pain and prednisone for inflammation for several weeks prior to procedure. Haven't had any meds since Saturday.
