How Do You Rig a Live Shrimp

May try out some live shrimp this weekend if the weather allows. Looking for pointers on how you rig your line to fish with live shrimp. Thinking either Catfish Lake or possibly backside of Grand Isle. Targeted species is big speckled trout.

I go right through the head and let the tail flicker.

Under a cork or free line, split shot, Carolina rig, what size hook.
I never fished with live shrimp before.

Mostly I use it under a cork and just let them swim. I usually try to find an oyster bed and hang that shrimp under a cork and hold on tight. I may put a little split shot but nothing too heavy.

I like to tie up a carolina rig with a short leader (1 to 2.5 ft). I will usually put a weighted clip on egg cork above the weight so I can take it on and off and fish the entire water column. My rig is like this
Egg Cork < 1/4oz sliding egg weight < swivel < 1/0 khale hook
I usually rig the shrimp through the horn, but sometimes I'll do it through the third joint of the tail if the fish are being finnicky.

I typically use a cork with live shrimp, but will also freeline and carolina rig on occasions. I like a kahle hook in 1/0, and will use a small split shot to keep down in the water column. My leader length depends on the depth I am fishing in.20# flouro is my prefered leader material. If I go carolina I like to use a 1/8 or 1/4 weight. Keeping it light but enough weight to get it on the bottom.

Depends on location, etc, but usually hooked under the horn, under a popping cork with small split shot and either small kahle hook or real small treble. Any other time is going to be carolina rigged or free lined by some pilings for sheepshead.
