I listened to a guy from California, who worked for Forestry Department, shout out to the heavens, that if they didn't get rid of the under brush and dead trees, Cali could be screwed with fires, this was late last year.

Even the NYTimes claimed as much, then tried to claim the president was out of his mind when he claimed as much.

Do they realize the shite they print can be found, and their agendas exposed??? It's sad that this is what they call journalism today.

How does one mislead, when the facts claim they are correct?

Never. This shite has been going on since the beginning of newspapers. The only difference now is that there is national news versus sectional/regional/city papers that report tailored to their audience.

It’s not that Trump was necessarily wrong it what he said but the timing of that tweet was a bit ridiculous.

You start with condolences, let shite die down, then simply say you are committed to stopping things like this as much as possible in the future.

Today's media's goal is not to inform, it is to provide content that will attract viewers and gain as much traffic as possible. Because of this, they have to cater to their viewers.

If a story doesn't say what people want to hear then they are not going to stay on the site as long to read it nor will they share it on social media.

When did the flag-covered caskets stop being front page news?

When did the Iraq War recede into the abyss?

Clearing out underbrush and deforestation to protect against wild fires is not a my side versus your side thing.

Why does the NYTs have to hide the fact that the president is actually right on this issue? It shouldn't even be political.

I'm as critical as anyone of the media, but they generally go with what sells. If people were actually wanting this type of info, the media would give it to them. Blaming the media for everything, and not holding the audience accountable, is going to lead to the same behavior over and over.

They'll stop when:

Women insist that you take most of the bathroom counter space.

Your Labrador retriever says 'No treats...I'm trying to lose weight.'

The head football coach says 'Our next opponent sucks. We'll win by 70.'

You'll have to forgive the easily-confused NYT readers; several don't even know which bathroom to use.

It was a thing of beauty last night in Biloxi when Trump pointed at the media and called them fake news.

The press is competitive in this country and you can choose from hundreds of news options.

Taxpayers aren't paying to run the papers so why are some around here so eaten up with "fake news." What is your solution?

heres the problem; your premise...

is made up. youre lying, and whats worse is you posted the truth and are still lying.

the NYT criticized trump for oversimplifying the causes of the fire, not for saying it was because of underbrush. it says so right in your picture.

he was also criticized for citing a conversation with the President of Finland that never took place. it never happened, the man never said a word about raking a god damn forest. oh but at least that made us a global laughing stock, so that was fun.

That is all media's goal since the start, they're a business. Why are people confused that a business is doing business things?

Not just a business, but a desperate failing business. In desperate times, people make rash, short term decisions.

Tech billionaires, the Chinese, the Ruskies, whomever all enter with a multimillion dollar windfall and it becomes pretty easy to write what the puppet master wants when the alternative is being out of a job.

You know what's fake? YOU... whitewashing what Trump erroneously said about firefighters, how and where the fires started, his pretense at knowing what the hell he was talking about, his lies about what the President of Finland told him, his scummy threats to withhold funding even when he was wrong about so many aspects of the matter, and his abject failure to express sorrow at the dozens of Californians who had already died.

YOU are fake news. THIS THREAD is fake news.
