This why I don't have a lease in AR any more.

Just not enough birds right now.
Buddy hunted in AR this past weekend. Between 8 of them they killed 20.

I read somewhere that there's a club you can join to fix this.

Got a friend whose Uncle has a big piece of land in that area. Owns a bunch of cattle. He was suppose to go fishing up on one of his Uncles many ponds he has, I told him to check out the duck situation while fishing. Hasn't been there yet, still waiting to hear from his uncle. We killed 13 this morning. Best hunt so far. 11 mallards, 2 pintails. Three of us. We have hunted the last 5 days and nary a shot was taken.

In the same boat in central la. Some of our farm has second growth rice that looks like a primary crop. Hunted today and didn't even call at a duck. 2 miles away, a guy went and shot the shite out of the green heads. Its fricking demoralizing.

I'm hearing hit and miss from far and wide, and a whole lot more miss than hit.

VernonPLSU, sounds like you guys finally got a good one. I bet you weren't letting many stragglers get out either.

I haven’t been able to make a hunt due to work. I’m in northern Alabama and I’m seeing plenty birds.

Ain't holdin' your mouth right. Plus if it's uncut and not rolled them sombitches won't light in the top of a rice head like a black bird will. FYI.

So--what's the legalities of rolling the rice? Wouldn't it be considered baiting if you knock down uncut rice? Asking for a friend

You’d have to roll the entire field to have any kind of argument for “normal agricultural practices.”

Yes, that’s illegal. Also, if old boy a couple posts up was hunting Mississippi, then he was hunting out of season too. It doesn’t start in MS til Friday.

Is it uncut 1st crop? It’s probably too thick for the ducks to land, same principle applies early season in crawfish ponds when regrowth is real thick before winter weather has chance to break it down

Just because you are within one mile of Beaver Dam doesn't mean you have a jam up duck hole.
