Which streaming service should I consider for watching live TV on a tablet?

So, I was in need of a device to watch TV in the kitchen, and a traditional TV with directv receiver wasn't an option. and the 13" ipad pro is too small (not to mention expensive)...So I googled "Biggest tablet on market" and found the Samsung Galaxy View (18.5"!). It arrived on Saturday and it is exactly what I needed.
Since I have directv service at my house, I am able to watch live TV using the directv app for tablets. The directv app is serviceable but the UI isn't great and many channels (including CBS and NBC) aren't available in the channel guide. But it is a free service since I have a directv account.
I am considering Directv Now or YouTube TV as an alternative. They both cost about $40 a month.
Looking for a good user experience...eg, changing channels should be pretty friendly and ability to pause live TV. since it is a tablet, there is no remote, which makes interacting with the tablet cumbersome.
Does anyone here have experience with Directv Now or Youtube TV on a tablet? Would like to get feedback...

Are you interested in dropping DTV and adding a different service all together ?

Have DTVNow and using it on an older iPad mini occasionally and still works great. I love their service overall. A lot of people like YouTube TV as well.

Most of the services have 7-30 day trials...Honestly, try a few out they're all slightly different

Chicken, who is your phone service with?
If AT&T, may be worth exploring their deal. I pay $10 a month for DirecTV Now with my AT&T phone deal.

If it's anything like my iphone, its more useful to use the guide. The channel surfing deal is not ideal at all. It's a process that is not very well done. I usually click to get the menu to pop up, click to go to guide, then scroll channel listings.
ETA - Like others have said, get the free trials. DirecTV Now, PSVue, and Youtube TV are the big hitters.

No, but I made a decision to dump Cox and only use DTVNow. The UI for the channels is clean and search works well.
I like it enough that I would not go back to cable/dish unless something like a major price hike came up.

I can't speak to Directv Now, but I've had YouTube TV for about 4 months and I love it. Great user interface, high quality picture, unlimited DVR. No complaints whatsoever.

using an using free trial on YouTube TV right now...not bad, but the guide kind of sucks...I wish the guide was more condensed so you can more quickly scroll through the channels. I am using a gigantic tablet so maybe that is cause.

It's definitely not a typical guide. I use the Live TV tab more than anything, which lists all the channels and what's currently on. I like that you can scroll through the channels and preview what is currently playing.
I use both a Nexus 7 and my smartphone.

No experience with those 2 but Hulu Live has worked out well for me. $40/month.

Do the free trials of all of them and see, they all have 7 day trials. (DTV Now, Hulu Live, Youtube Live, Playstation Vue, Sling)
I have DTV Now and I think its great. I had Playstation Vue before and it also worked very well. Can't go wrong either way. Only reason I switched was for the DTVN AppleTV 4k promotion.
Sling and Hulu weren't for me. Sling was bad all around and I didn't like Hulu's guide.
I am currently switching to DTV because I moved into a new construction and there is no telling when I will get internet. In a year I will probably swap back to DTVN since I have AT&T unlimited and it knocks $15/mo off the price, free HBO, and doesn't use data while streaming on the phone.
Last bit of advice, try each service on all your devices and see how they respond. I have noticed some services work better on certain devices.

In my experience, fuboTV has the best guide and menu layout but it's 45$ and does NOT have ESPN/SEC Network.
I think the Hulu w/ Live TV is the 2nd best menu, has the best DVR, pause, rewind and fast forward capabilities.
I think YouTube TV is 3rd best.
The one caveat to keep in mind is whether or not those services have apps on your device.

YouTube TV, great sports lineup, all the locals, unlimited DVR, looks great on phone, tablet, or flat screen. Some TVs already have yttv already installed so you wouldn't need a separate box.

YouTube TV has been downright awesome for me. Interface is great too. That’s what I’d go with.
I have Fubo TV as well for Bien Sports, Gol TV and Pac12 network and love it.

I have been using Youtube TV on the massive tablet I bought (18.5" Samsubg Galaxy View)...it looks like a keeper but I need to try Directv Now more...I have both on trial.
