Did you expect to go from the shithouse to Natty in one season? I get frustrated with it too. Two games ago this board was singing the praises that CEO had made many cerebral personnel moves (against the wishes of this message board). I would be highly surprised if CEO and Staff were happy with this performance either.

We could go get Jimbo for $7.5 Mil for ten yrs and go same record as last coach... I dont know what the next season hold for us but I expect they wont stand pat on it.

These are the leading tacklers from yesterday's game. Which ones are Mile's and which ones are Eaux's?

9S Grant Delpit
1A T. Alexander
40 Devin White
45 M. Divinity
6 Jacob Phillips
5 Kary Vincent
97 Glen Logan

Including who the primary recruiter was for the players?

So Miles had LSU as a "shithouse" program? Orgeron did not take over a rebuild, sorry.

And not once did I say a national title was expected this season. Although, with a competent offense, it probably could have been realistic.

Miles at his Prime 2007-2011 he clearly was the better coach, but Miles football didn't adjust to the changing landscape of football so we feel apart. Coach O is an upgrade in one big way, no head coach will have a deeper love for LSU as a coach than he will. With wins over Auburn, MIami and Georgia I give him a pass even if we lose to aTm and the bowl game. He still hasn't proven it in my mind he needs to be competitive vs Bama and maybe beat them before I consider him the right choice for LSU.

The offensive line play has been abysmal.

Sounds like a coaching issue. The rant told me before the season started we would have one of the best offensive lines in college football. The rant said that the new offensive line coach was one of the best in football, college or pro, and that he had a super bowl ring. Not really sure why that would matter, but that's one of the things they hung their hat on.

My question is, who chose the new offensive line coach, and who is responsible for the football program?

2011 13-1 (I hate Bama)
2012 10-3 (6-2 SEC)
2013 10-3 (5-3 SEC)
2014 8-5 (4-4 SEC)
2015 9-3 (5-3 SEC) (three straight losses, bad losses too, Miles should have been fired after the Ole Miss game but Aleva has no guts.)
2016 Under Miles 2-2, Coach O as Intrim 6-2.

Miles had clearly a team who was on the way DOWN. We saved the 2016 season, we shouldn't have been that competitive in the SEC that year.

another way to look at this, in the span of 5 seasons (not counting 2016) we went from being 8-0 in the SEC than 3 straight years of 5 or less wins in the SEC. (note with the 2016 season that is 4 straight seasons with 5 or less wins in the SEC.) Coach O ended that trend in his first official season, and likely will again this year.

the players LOVE coach O, the passion he shows for the tigers is one of the best I've seen in the country. That rubs off on the players and makes them want to play for him.

Miles would have beaten Florida in 2016, Troy, Miss. State and Notre Dame in 2017, Florida this year. And given Bama a tougher game all three years. Might have even won one of the Bama games.

See how easy that was to just post an opinion Trout.

Apparently that only works for the guys playing defense and not offensive linemen.

What's funny is, Miles was fired for losing 2 close games vs teams who finished in the top 10. I guarantee 2016 would have had the same result if Miles would have stayed at the helm. Granted, we might have beat Florida.

Also, our offense would be much better if O had left Canada alone and let him have full reign. Burrow is the perfect QB for his offense.

no matter what the players think of Coach O

Miles last three seasons in SEC
5-3
4-4
5-3
*5-3 split year
First two years under Coach O
6-2
5-2

I think we have reversed the trend we had since that thing that happened in 2012 that I like to forget. We may be a year or two away from being back to the 2011 level but the fact that we are considered a slim chance team for the playoff is amazing for this team.

Note in preseason we were picked 5th in the SEC west, and we will end up being 2nd in the west. This has been a successful season assuming we take care of aTm.

Is this a serious question? There is no upgrade. In fact, as far as the offense and competition with Alabama is concerned, we are further behind than ever.

If we are satisfied with 63-10 against Alabama, then we comin

does anyone remember how bad we looked at the end of 2015? When Miles should have been fired in the first place?

14 point loss vs Bama
17 point loss vs Arkansas
21 point loss vs Ole Miss
got lucky and beat aTm which was apparently enough to make everyone forget the previous three games.

It's too early to tell how successful coach O will be but he has us trending up not down like Miles was.

season. Orgeron is on pace to do just that. Save me the 8-2 argument, because it's no better than Miles usually did. I don't see why we should just be satisfied we are 8-2, when we have done it in such sloppy fashion. Had we been 8-2 without looking so totally garbage on offense against Southeastern, LA Tech, Arkansas, as well as other games but I'll overlook them because the defenses we faced in those games were solid, then that 8-2 looks better. You can't just pound your chest pointing at 8-2 while ignoring the massive issues we are having, with no improvements being shown.

Well I liked Miles, but I agree his stubbornness with offense got him fired. It was time for a change. With respect to Coach O, I think they are willing to throw it more. In 2014 with Jennings and Harris, LSU threw it 274 times in 13 games. In 2015 (12 game season, we lost the McNeese game) LSU threw it 277 times. LSU in 10 games this year with LSU has thrown it 280 times this year. So Miles in his last 2 full seasons threw it only 21 and 23 times a game. Coach O with a first year QB who only go here in Summer and only had 1 fall camp has been allowed to throw it 28 times a game. So that is a 5-7 game improvement in passing philosophy, albeit small one. In terms of formations, LSU was extensively 21 (2B-1TE) and 22 (2B-2TE) personnel under Miles and never threw to TE. LSU is more 11 personnel (1B-1TE) and I think don't throw to the TE because LSU has had to use TE as 6th man protector given all the shuffling in the offensive line.

So I think there has been a change in approach with the offense. I just don't think the offensive line is as good as it was in 2014-2016 (had some good talent). Not saying this line can develop, I think it can, but imagine if Weahersby and Clapp came back for senior year, maybe Coach O could have been more aggressive with the Offense. But I think there have been some improvements in approach on offense. Just my view.
