Imagine if Hill, Spears, Lavalais, Clayton, Webster, Whitworth, etc. had this mentality

I'd much rather be the group that dethrones Bama.

I guess LF7, obj , Landry, white, Williams, Adams delpit, all suck because they didn’t go to bama. How will they ever survive at the highest level because the didn’t go to bama? Poor ole LSU just couldn’t help them get better. They didn’t have enough iron to sharpen.

Maybe they have a leaders mentality that makes them great

Stop with this “muh championships” crap. Not a single one of these top recruits really gives a shite about a college national championship. They are all looking ahead to the NFL and that big contract.

They choose a school based solely on who is willing to play the $$ game. Most of these kids you have to pay just to get an in home visit with.

You get paid for a job though. Bama wouldn't pay anyone to play football, would they?

Culotta was talking about this on the radio this morning. About how you see a lot of Bama gear in LA and LA kids wanting to go to Bama to be "associated with that success".

That seems like such a loser mentality. Like you're not confident enough in your own ability to represent your home state and try to take on the machine so you'd rather just join it. I don't understand it. If I was a top LA recruit I'd be fired up to be part of the group that's going to try to take them down.

After Saturday i dont blame them one bit... if you are good enough to make it in the NFL anyway , why not assuredly compete for a national championship.....i hate when out LA boys go somewhere else.. but look at Etienne- he made a better decision and no one can deny it- nor deal with that reality.

I don't see it that way at all. They go to play for the greatest coach we've seen on the greatest run we've ever seen. These kids have no loyalties to LSU. They're going to win and be coached by the best. I wish they all came here and it pisses me off when we lose one but I do not put any blame on them. I only dislike the games some play. Be straight up with the staffs. Don't mix in the dirty side of leading staffs on.

He's the greatest recruiter coaching a national all star team. You can go there and be guaranteed a ring or two at the minimum. It does appeal to a lot of kids these days but there is little challenge or accomplishment in that. Just wish more had the mindset to really take on a challenge and accomplish something great. Toppling the giant is epic. Going to Bama certainly doesn't get you to the NFL any faster or get you drafted any higher.

But maybe there really is something more to it. It does seem weird that these kids suddenly seem to have the money to purchase expensive vehicles. Or that the parent or key relative suddenly gets a much better job and/or better home/apt, and some even move to Alabama. Or the girlfriend suddenly gets a scholly or decides to go to Bama. LSU doing those things might get sanctions but there are some things we could be doing work related above board that will still keep LSU out of trouble.

What is basically just as bad is all the Bama "fans" from Louisiana or living in Louisiana. Is is nauseating!

I agree with the first paragraph but also see the challenge for those kids as living up to the standard. Coaches say all the time "getting to the top takes a lot of work but staying there takes more" so that's the challenge for those kids in my eyes. Their biggest challenge is buying in and just getting on the field. Saban is no easy guy to play for because if the excellence he expects. Not all kids are built for it.

Blame the kids for taking the easy way out, all the while we promoted our d-line coach and TE coach. This Louisiana first attitude is why we continue to fail as a state, a university, and football team.

In the real world you go out and get the best avaialable no matter their place of origin. In the same light, those with ambition tend put their loyalty aside to push for success.

Apathy has set in and we're blaming 18 year olds for wanting to win championships ....

When I first read this I thought, 'this is why I don't post much here. how is going to Bama and competing everyday in practice against other really, really good players just for a shot to get on the field the "easy way out"'?

Then I read the rest of your post and I totally agree.

This was going on before Saban got here in 2000, and it was 2002 class that changed everything. O needs that type of class this coming year.

They go up against the best everyday in practice!! What better way to perfect your craft? Nothing is handed to them. It is earned!! Look at #1 Ben Davis, OLB. The kid is a legacy. His dad is Wayne Davis, All-American and former NFL player for 10+ seasons. Ben was #1 at his position but his arse hasn't cracked the 2 deep yet! He seems to have that entitled attitude and doesn't seem to give a shite!!

Y'all should know from Saban's time there at LSU. He got the best and he used the best assistants to work their asses off.

I've been in education for 25 years now and these kids don't a loyalty to a school. It's all about winning and getting to the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc.
