lets assume LSU has thrown in the towel and just decided to crunch the numbers instead of trying to compete for NC. this means they have concluded that even with belichick and tom brady they cant beat bama as long as saban is there.

so with that premis, the whole intent going forward is to do just enough to keep us competitive in the top 15 rankings and have good bowl bids to sell tickets and keep the money rolling in until saban leaves and only then will they seriously go out and try to bring in a top coaching staff to compete for NC.

would all the things that have happened here with miles and then the coaching searches make more sense if you go along with that mindset?

Universal doesnt expect to be Disney World but it doesnt mean they can't be successful and one of the best theme parks in the world...it just means they aren't Disney World. Nobody is.

I have no idea about the first part, but the second part is undeniably true.

Everyone there is milking this fan base for a few years until they can retire. Keeping that flow coming in from the fans and into their pockets for those remaining few years is the defining motivation of every action.

Every decision can be viewed as having a built in risk/reward vs. delaying action mind set. Coach O is one of us and therefore buys Aleva an extra year or two compared to another coach. If he'd gone for Herman and Herman flamed out, Alleva is a goner too. Alleva doesn't need a successful coach to milk it for his last few years, just who can keep things good enough.

Coach O has gone from saying we're built to win now to saying that it will take a few years to build up the lines. He wants this QB, that kind of QB - all to basically shift around the timetable and make his money for a few more years.

We employ two con men and they are laughing their way to the bank with our dollars.

Plus they now have Star Wars. Which will always be infinitely better than Harry Potter.

I said this when Orgeron was hired.

I do think to some degree, LSU did “throw in the towel”. I think they went with a cheap hire that would not let the wheels completely fall off. Orgeron was known for recruiting and knows the area well enough that he can get talented enough players that we will always stay in the 8-10 wins per season range.
