Mettenberger 2012 prior to BAMA:
112-198 56.6%
1419 yards
7 TDs-4 int
7.2 yards/attempt

Burrow 2018 prior to BAMA:
120-223 53.8%
1544 yards
6 TDs-3 int
6.9 yards/attempt (nice)

Stats are strikingly similar through the first game 8 games for these 2. Another note, both lost to Florida on the road; both in their first year as a starter; both were transfers. Can Burrow have his best game by far as a tiger against BAMA? Mett sure did.

Mett vs. BAMA 2012:
24-35 69% (nice)
298 yards
1 TD-0int

The difference could be Burrow's legs:
2012 Mettenberger rushed for -208 yards and -22 against BAMA
2018 Burrow has rushed for POSITIVE 250 yards and 4 TDs

TIGERS WIN THIS ONE 33-31

You forgot the biggest factor. Both of those games are on November 3rd.

Wasn't that the first time we rolled Mett out of the pocket to give him more time? The big difference is that Mett's receivers were more dependable.

Another big difference in that game was the emergence of Trai Turner and Vadal Alexander

Their emergence was more against South Carolina earlier in the year. But as freshmen they played extremely well. That’s the last time we’ve been able to run on Bama. I like our OLINE this year though; I think they along with a good scheme will allow us to run effectively

I'd rather not compare Burrow to Mettenberger. Burrow has already won more meaningful games than Mettenberger ever did.

We didn’t roll Mett out, his WRs started catching the ball better. Before everybody started getting hurt, we had obliterated somebody (Washington maybe) and Sporting News I think had an article about how Mett would’ve had a perfect game if the receivers hadn’t dropped passes.

Mett has his bouts with bad accuracy mid season, but the WRs didn’t always help early. 2013 was another story

PS a reasonably healthy 2012 squad even without Tyrann is probably national champs. Crazy all the injuries and roster issues that year.

Maybe the biggest thing was that Mett had Hill, OBJ and Landry.

And LSU also had "3rd and Chavis."

Ask Yeldon and 102,000 fans in Tiger Stadium about 3AC.

This is a solid OP

Could definitely see Burrow blowing up like a Mett did six years ago to the day.

It seems like the last time I saw Alabama just be totally helpless
